This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, programming, operation, and maintenance of your Weiser Powerbolt Electronic Deadbolt, Model 9GED14600-101. This electronic deadbolt offers enhanced security and convenience with its keyless touchpad entry and traditional key access. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and use to ensure proper function and to maximize the lifespan of your product.

2. Important Safety Information

Observe the following safety precautions to prevent injury or damage to the product:

  • Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the lock beyond the instructions provided in this manual.
  • Use only the specified battery type (4 AA batteries). Do not mix old and new batteries or different types of batteries.
  • Keep all components, especially small parts, out of reach of children.
  • Ensure proper alignment during installation to prevent binding or excessive force on the deadbolt mechanism.
  • Protect the keypad from excessive moisture or direct water exposure.

4. Installation Instructions

Before you begin, measure your door's backset, cross bore, and thickness to ensure compatibility. This lock is designed for standard door preparations with a 2-1/8" bore hole and 2-3/8" or 2-3/4" backsets.

  1. Prepare the Door: If installing on a new door, use the provided drilling template to prepare the necessary holes. For existing doors, ensure the bore hole and backset are compatible.
  2. Install the Latch: Insert the deadbolt latch into the edge of the door. Ensure the "UP" arrow on the latch is pointing upwards. Adjust the backset if necessary (2-3/8" or 2-3/4"). Secure with screws.
  3. Install Exterior Keypad: Feed the cable from the exterior keypad assembly through the cross bore hole. Position the keypad flush against the door.
  4. Install Mounting Plate: Route the cable through the mounting plate. Secure the mounting plate to the door using the provided screws, ensuring it holds the exterior keypad in place.
  5. Connect Cables: Connect the cable from the exterior keypad to the interior assembly. Ensure the connection is secure.
  6. Install Interior Assembly: Position the interior assembly over the mounting plate, aligning the turn knob shaft with the deadbolt mechanism. Secure the interior assembly to the mounting plate with the remaining screws.
  7. Install Batteries: Open the battery cover on the interior assembly and insert 4 new AA alkaline batteries. Observe correct polarity. Close the battery cover.
  8. Test Operation: With the door open, test the lock's function using the turn knob and the keypad with the default code (if applicable) or a newly programmed code. Ensure the deadbolt extends and retracts smoothly without obstruction.

5. Programming Instructions

The Powerbolt Electronic Deadbolt allows for the creation of a Master Code and up to 6 User Codes. The Master Code is essential for programming. If not set, the first code programmed will become the Master Code.

5.1. Setting the Master Code

The Master Code is essential for programming. If not set, the first code programmed will become the Master Code.

  1. Press the "Program" button (usually located on the interior assembly).
  2. Enter a new 4-8 digit Master Code.
  3. Press the "Lock" button.
  4. Re-enter the new Master Code.
  5. Press the "Lock" button again. A successful programming tone will sound.

5.2. Adding User Codes

You can store up to 6 unique user codes for access.

  1. Enter your Master Code.
  2. Press the "Program" button.
  3. Press "1" (for adding a user code).
  4. Enter a new 4-8 digit User Code.
  5. Press the "Lock" button. A successful programming tone will sound.

5.3. Deleting User Codes

  1. Enter your Master Code.
  2. Press the "Program" button.
  3. Press "2" (for deleting a user code).
  4. Enter the User Code you wish to delete.
  5. Press the "Lock" button. A successful programming tone will sound.

5.4. Enabling/Disabling Auto-Lock

The lock can be set to automatically re-lock 30 seconds after unlocking.

  • To Enable: Enter Master Code, press "Program", press "3", press "Lock".
  • To Disable: Enter Master Code, press "Program", press "4", press "Lock".

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Locking the Door

  • From Exterior: Press the "Lock" button on the keypad. The deadbolt will extend.
  • From Interior: Rotate the turn knob to the locked position.

6.2. Unlocking the Door

  • Using a User Code: Enter a valid 4-8 digit User Code on the keypad. The deadbolt will retract.
  • Using a Key: Insert the key into the keyhole and turn to unlock.
  • From Interior: Rotate the turn knob to the unlocked position.

7. Maintenance

7.1. Battery Replacement

The lock requires 4 AA alkaline batteries. A low battery indicator will alert you when batteries need replacement. Replace all four batteries simultaneously with new ones.

  1. Remove the battery cover on the interior assembly.
  2. Remove the old batteries.
  3. Insert 4 new AA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Replace the battery cover.

Note: Replacing batteries does not erase programmed codes.

7.2. Cleaning

Clean the lock with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the finish and electronic components.

7.3. SmartKey Rekeying

The SmartKey cylinder allows you to rekey your lock to a new key in seconds. Refer to the separate SmartKey rekeying instructions provided with your lock or visit the Weiser website for a video tutorial. You will need your existing key, the new key, and the SmartKey learning tool.

8. Troubleshooting
