Setup
1. Setting the Time
- Pull the crown out to the second click position.
- Turn the crown to set the hour and minute hands to the desired time. Ensure AM/PM is correctly set if the watch has a 24-hour indicator or date changes at midnight.
- Push the crown back into the normal position.
2. Setting the Date
- Pull the crown out to the first click position.
- Turn the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise (depending on the movement) to set the date. Avoid setting the date between 9 PM and 3 AM, as this can damage the movement.
- Push the crown back into the normal position.
3. Setting the Moonphase
The moon-phase indicator is typically set using a small recessed pusher on the side of the watch case, or by rotating the crown in the first click position. Consult a local watchmaker if you are unsure, as incorrect adjustment can damage the mechanism.
- Locate the moon-phase corrector button (often a small indentation on the case side).
- Use a non-metallic pointed tool (e.g., a toothpick) to gently press the corrector button until the moon-phase display advances to the desired phase.
- Refer to a current moon calendar to set the correct moon phase.
Operating Your Watch
Timekeeping
Once set, your quartz watch will keep accurate time. The luminous hands and markers provide visibility in low-light conditions.
Water Resistance
This watch has a water resistance depth of 10 meters (1 ATM). This rating means the watch is suitable for splashes or brief immersion in water, but it is not suitable for swimming, showering, or diving. Ensure the crown is fully pushed in to maintain water resistance.
Maintenance
Cleaning
- Wipe the watch case and crystal with a soft, dry cloth.
- For the leather strap, avoid prolonged exposure to water and direct sunlight. Clean with a specialized leather cleaner if necessary, or simply wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately.
- Do not use chemical cleaners or abrasive materials.
Battery Replacement
The watch is powered by a quartz movement, requiring a battery. When the battery runs low, the watch may stop or the second hand may skip. Battery replacement should be performed by a qualified watch technician to ensure proper sealing and water resistance.
Storage
When not in use, store your watch in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and strong magnetic fields. The original watch box is ideal for storage.
Troubleshooting
- Watch not running: Check if the crown is pushed in completely. If it is, the battery may need replacement.
- Date/Moonphase not changing: Ensure the time is set correctly, passing midnight. Avoid setting the date/moonphase during the forbidden hours (9 PM - 3 AM).
- Condensation under crystal: This indicates a loss of water resistance. Seek professional service immediately to prevent damage to the movement.
