Setup
1. Fueling the Soldering Iron
- Ensure the tool is turned off and completely cool.
- Hold the tool upside down.
- Insert the nozzle of a Bernzomatic butane fuel canister into the filling valve at the base of the tool.
- Press down firmly for approximately 10-15 seconds until the fuel tank is full. Do not overfill.
- Allow a few minutes for the butane to stabilize before ignition.
2. Attaching Tips and Nozzles
The Bernzomatic ST500 comes with three interchangeable settings: a soldering tip, a hot air blower, and a micro torch with a pinpoint flame.

- Soldering Tip: Screw the desired soldering tip onto the heating element. Ensure it is securely fastened but do not overtighten.
- Hot Air Blower: Remove any soldering tip. The hot air blower attachment fits over the heating element.
- Micro Torch: Remove any tip or attachment. The tool operates as a micro torch when no tip is installed, producing a pinpoint flame.

Operating Instructions
1. Ignition
- Ensure the fuel tank is adequately filled.
- Push the ignition button forward until it clicks and the flame ignites.
- For continuous operation, slide the flame lock switch forward while the ignition button is pressed. Release the ignition button, and the flame will remain lit.
- To extinguish the flame, slide the flame lock switch back to the off position.
