Juki HZL-80HP Sewing Machine Instruction Manual

Model: HZL-80HP | Brand: JUKI

1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your Juki HZL-80HP Sewing Machine. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the machine to ensure proper function and longevity.

2. Safety Precautions

  • Always unplug the machine from the electrical outlet when removing covers, lubricating, or when making any other user servicing adjustments mentioned in the instruction manual.
  • Keep fingers away from all moving parts. Special care is required around the sewing machine needle.
  • Use the proper needle plate. The wrong plate can cause the needle to break.
  • Do not pull or push fabric while stitching. This may deflect the needle, causing it to break.
  • Turn the sewing machine off when making any adjustments in the needle area, such as threading the needle, changing the needle, threading the bobbin, or changing the presser foot.
  • Never operate the machine with any air openings blocked. Keep ventilation openings of the sewing machine and foot controller free from the accumulation of lint, dust, and loose cloth.

7. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter.

7.1 Machine Beeps and Does Not Operate

  • Cause: Safety feature engaged (e.g., presser foot up, bobbin winder engaged, wrong stitch selected for current setting).
  • Solution: Ensure the presser foot is down, the bobbin winder is disengaged, and the correct settings are applied for the chosen stitch. Refer to the display for error codes or indicators.

7.2 Thread Jamming

  • Cause: Incorrect threading, improper bobbin insertion, dull or bent needle, incorrect tension.
  • Solution: Re-thread the machine completely (both upper and bobbin threads). Ensure the bobbin is inserted correctly. Replace the needle. Check upper and lower thread tension settings.

7.3 Skipped Stitches

  • Cause: Incorrect needle size or type for fabric, bent needle, improper threading, low-quality thread.
  • Solution: Change the needle to the correct type and size for your fabric. Ensure the needle is inserted correctly. Re-thread the machine. Use good quality thread.

7.4 Uneven Stitching / Puckering

  • Cause: Incorrect thread tension, wrong needle for fabric, presser foot pressure too high or too low.
  • Solution: Adjust upper and bobbin thread tension. Use the appropriate needle. Adjust presser foot pressure according to fabric thickness.
