  4. Rotate the chuck clockwise to tighten the jaws securely around the bit. Hand-tighten firmly.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Powering On/Off and Speed Control

  • To turn the tool on, press the trigger switch. The speed is variable depending on how far the trigger is pressed.
  • To turn the tool off, release the trigger switch.
  • The tool features a 2-speed mechanical switch (High/Low) located on top of the tool. Select the appropriate speed range for your application:
    • High Speed: For faster drilling in softer materials or smaller diameter holes.
    • Low Speed: For high-torque applications, driving screws, or drilling larger diameter holes in harder materials.

5.2 Torque Adjustment (Clutch Dial)

The large two-layer molded clutch dial allows for precise torque adjustment to prevent over-tightening screws or damaging materials. Rotate the dial to select the desired torque setting. For drilling, set the dial to the drill icon for maximum torque.

5.3 Drilling/Driving Modes

The DV14DBL2(NN) offers multiple modes for versatile use:

  • Drill Mode: For general drilling in wood, metal, and plastic.
  • Impact Drill Mode: For drilling in masonry and concrete, utilizing a hammering action.
  • Driver Mode: For fastening screws with adjustable torque settings.

5.4 Reactive Force Control (RFC) Function

The RFC function is an advanced safety feature that detects sudden changes in rotational speed, such as when the bit binds or jams. In such events, the RFC system quickly stops the motor to reduce the risk of kickback and potential injury to the operator. While RFC enhances safety, always maintain a firm grip on the tool and be prepared for unexpected reactions.

5.5 LED Light and Battery Level Indicator

  • The integrated LED light automatically illuminates the work area when the trigger is pressed, improving visibility in dimly lit conditions.
  • The battery level indicator displays the remaining charge of the battery pack, allowing you to monitor power levels during operation.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your HiKOKI drill.

  • Cleaning: Regularly clean the tool's ventilation openings to prevent overheating. Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe down the exterior. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Chuck Maintenance: Periodically clean the chuck jaws to ensure proper gripping of bits.
  • Battery Care: Store batteries in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Do not expose batteries to extreme temperatures. Follow the charging instructions provided with your HiKOKI charger.
