Setup and Installation Notes

As previously stated, professional installation is mandatory for this system. The following points are critical for a successful installation:

  • Bypass Module: If your vehicle has a factory OEM key fob with a chip immobilizer, an extra bypass module (e.g., ASIN: B07NSLPBG7 or B00MEHBVIC) is required.
  • Steering Lock: The vehicle's steering lock must be unlocked, released, or removed during the installation of this system.
  • Diesel Vehicles: For diesel vehicles with an engine starting time exceeding 3 seconds, it is recommended to turn on the ACC or ON dashboard first to pre-warm the spark plug before starting the car. Alternatively, an extra timer delay switch can be added.
  • Wiring Diagram: A detailed wiring diagram is available upon request to assist professional installers.

Operating Instructions

1. Passive Keyless Entry (PKE)

The PKE feature automatically locks and unlocks your vehicle as you approach or walk away, provided the key fob is within range.

  • Automatic Unlock: When you approach the vehicle within 1-2 meters (approximately 3-6 feet) with the key fob, the car doors will automatically unlock.
  • Automatic Lock: When you walk away from the vehicle, and the key fob is outside the 2-3 meter (approximately 6-9 feet) range, the car doors will automatically lock.

2. Remote Engine Start/Stop

This feature allows you to start or stop your vehicle's engine remotely, which can be used to pre-cool the interior in summer or pre-warm it in winter.

  • To remotely start the engine, press and hold the 'HOLD' button on the key fob for approximately 3 seconds.
  • To remotely stop the engine, press and hold the 'HOLD' button on the key fob again for approximately 3 seconds.

3. Push Button Start/Stop

The system replaces the traditional ignition key with a push-button start for convenience.

  • To Start the Car (Method 1): In disarm status, step on the foot brake pedal and short press the push start button once.
  • To Start the Car (Method 2): In disarm status, keep pressing the start button for 3 seconds while stepping on the foot brake pedal.
  • To Shut Off the Car: Once the car is started, step on the foot brake pedal and short press the push start button once to shut off the engine.

The engine start button changes color to indicate its status:

  • When disarmed, or ACC/ON is activated: Blue color.
  • When the car is started: Green color.

4. Touch Password Entry

The touch password keypad provides an alternative method to lock or unlock the car without the key fob.

  • To use, input your pre-programmed password on the keypad.
  • The system supports password revision and reset. Refer to the detailed wiring diagram and programming method for instructions on setting and changing the password.

5. Key Fob Functions

The remote key fobs provide control over various system functions:

  • Arm/Panic Mode: Typically activated by a dedicated button (often a closed padlock icon).
  • Disarm: Activated by a dedicated button (often an open padlock icon).
  • Start Button/Trunk Release: The 'HOLD' button serves for remote engine start/stop and can also function as a remote trunk release (an extra trunk release solenoid kit, like ASIN: B00N4RP8VM, may be required).
  • An LED indicator on the key fob provides visual feedback.

Maintenance

To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your EASYGUARD EC002-HY system, consider the following maintenance guidelines:

  • Key Fob Batteries: The key fobs require 2 CR2 batteries. Replace them when the LED indicator dims or the remote range decreases.
  • General Care: Keep the main control unit, key fobs, and keypad dry and clean. Avoid exposure to extreme temperatures or direct impact.
  • Professional Inspection: Periodically have the system inspected by a professional installer to ensure all connections are secure and components are functioning correctly.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your EASYGUARD EC002-HY system, consider the following:

  • System Not Responding: Check key fob battery levels. Ensure the key fob is within range for PKE or remote functions.
  • Intermittent Operation: This can sometimes be caused by loose connections or interference. A professional installer should inspect the wiring and component placement.
  • Engine Not Starting: Verify the system is disarmed. Ensure the foot brake is pressed when attempting push-button start. For diesel vehicles, confirm pre-warming procedures are followed if applicable.
  • PKE Not Working: Ensure the key fob is present and its batteries are charged. Check for any obstructions or strong electromagnetic interference.
  • Touch Password Entry Issues: Re-enter the password carefully. If forgotten or unresponsive, refer to the programming instructions for password reset or emergency override procedures.

For complex issues or persistent problems, it is strongly recommended to contact a professional car alarm installer for diagnosis and repair.
