Setup and Programming
1. Battery Installation
The RC73 remote requires two (2) AA batteries for operation. Ensure correct polarity when inserting.

- Slide the cover downwards to open.
- Insert two (2) AA batteries, matching the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals as indicated inside the compartment.
- Slide the cover back into place until it clicks securely.
2. Pairing with DIRECTV Receiver (RF Mode)
For optimal performance and to control your receiver without direct line-of-sight, pair your RC73 remote in RF (Radio Frequency) mode. This is typically done with Genie HR44 and C41 clients.
- Point the remote at your DIRECTV receiver.
- Press and hold the MUTE and ENTER buttons simultaneously until the green light at the top of the remote flashes twice.
- On your TV screen, a message should appear indicating that the remote is now programmed for RF.
- If no message appears, navigate to the receiver's menu: MENU > Settings & Help > Settings > Remote Control > Program Remote. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the pairing process.
3. Programming for TV Control (IR Mode)
To control your television's power, volume, and input, you will need to program the remote using IR (Infrared) mode.
- Turn on your television.
- Press and hold the MUTE and SELECT buttons simultaneously until the green light at the top of the remote flashes twice.
- Enter the 5-digit code for your TV brand. Common codes can be found in your TV's manual or online. If you don't know the code, try common codes like 10000, 10001, etc.
- After entering the code, point the remote at your TV and press the POWER button. If the TV turns off, the code is correct.
- If the TV does not turn off, repeat steps 2-4 with a different code.
- Once the TV turns off, press the SELECT button to save the code. The green light will flash twice.
