2. Setup and Assembly
Assembly of the Thomas & Friends MINIS Motorized Raceway is required before use. The process is designed to be straightforward, typically taking approximately 15 minutes with the aid of the included colored instructions. A screwdriver is needed for battery installation.
Assembly Steps:
- Unpack all components from the packaging. Verify that all parts are present according to the parts list in the included manual.
- Connect the track pieces securely, ensuring each piece snaps firmly into place. Proper connection is crucial for smooth operation.
- Locate the battery compartment, typically on the side of the main playset structure. Using a screwdriver, open the compartment.
- Insert 3 AA batteries (not included) into the compartment, observing correct polarity (+/-). Close the compartment securely with the screw.
- Apply the included stickers to the designated areas as indicated in the assembly guide.
- Ensure the on/off switch, located near the battery compartment, is in the "off" position during assembly.

3. Operating Instructions
Once assembled and batteries are installed, the playset is ready for operation. The motorized feature allows for continuous play and dynamic movement of the MINIS engines.
Operation Steps:
- Place the included Thomas and James MINIS engines onto the designated starting point at the base of the vertical lift.
- Turn the on/off switch to the "on" position. The motorized lift will begin to operate, automatically carrying the MINIS engines up the steep vertical track.
- Upon reaching the top, the MINIS engines will be positioned to enter one of three action-packed tracks.
- Track Selection: A switch at the top allows you to manually select the desired track for the engines. Ensure the switch is fully aligned with the chosen chute to prevent jams.
- Water Track: Sends MINIS down a "waterfall" and into a 360-degree loop.
- Free-Fall Drop Track: Leads to a broken piece of track, requiring Cranky the Crane to be swiveled to rescue the MINIS, allowing them to jump the gap.
- Inverted Sky Track: Engines roll off the edge and defy gravity by rolling upside down along an inverted track.
- Observe the MINIS as they navigate the chosen track, performing stunts and loops.
- To add more MINIS engines (sold separately), place them at the starting point. For optimal performance and to avoid traffic jams, it is recommended to use no more than 4-5 MINIS at a time, with 2-3 being ideal.
- When finished playing, turn the on/off switch to the "off" position.
