Physical Features and Components

- Color Display: Large, backlit display for call information, menus, and directories.

Setup Guide
Follow these steps to set up your Mitel Aastra 6869i telephone.
- Attach the Desk Stand: Align the desk stand with the slots on the back of the phone unit and snap it into place.
- Connect the Handset: Plug one end of the coiled handset cord into the handset and the other end into the handset port on the back of the phone unit (marked with a handset icon).
- Connect to Network (Ethernet):
- Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into the LAN port on the back of the phone (marked with a network icon).
- Plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into your network switch or router.
- Note: If your network supports Power over Ethernet (PoE), the phone will power on automatically.
- Connect Power (if not using PoE): If PoE is not available, connect the power adapter to the power port on the back of the phone and then plug it into a standard electrical outlet.
- Connect Headset (Optional): If using a headset, plug it into the dedicated headset port on the phone (marked with a headset icon).
- Initial Boot-up: The phone will power on and begin its boot sequence. This may take a few minutes. The display will show the boot progress and then the main idle screen once connected to the network and registered with your SIP server.
Operating Instructions
Basic Call Functions
- Making a Call:
- Lift the handset, press the Speakerphone button, or press an available Line key.
- Dial the desired number using the numeric keypad.
- Press the Dial soft key or wait for the call to connect automatically.
- Answering a Call:
- When the phone rings, lift the handset, press the Speakerphone button, or press the flashing Line key.
- Ending a Call:
- If using the handset, place it back in the cradle.
- If using speakerphone or headset, press the End Call soft key or the Speakerphone/Headset button.
Advanced Call Functions
- Hold: During an active call, press the Hold soft key or dedicated Hold button. To resume, press the flashing Line key or the Resume soft key.
- Transfer: During an active call, press the Xfer (Transfer) soft key or dedicated Transfer button. Dial the transfer destination number, then press the Transfer soft key again.
- Conference: During an active call, press the Conf (Conference) soft key or dedicated Conference button. Dial the number of the third party, and once connected, press the Conf soft key again to join all parties.
Using the Display and Soft Keys
The color display provides visual information about calls, menus, and phone status. The soft keys located directly below the display change their function based on the current context. Their labels on the screen indicate their current action (e.g., Pickup, Conf, Xfer, Voicemail, Home).
Voicemail
To access your voicemail, press the dedicated Voicemail button. Follow the audio prompts to listen to messages, change greetings, or adjust settings.
Directory/Contacts
Access your phone's directory by pressing the Directory soft key or a dedicated button (if configured). Use the navigation cluster to scroll through contacts and press the Dial soft key to initiate a call.
Volume Control
Adjust the volume during a call using the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons. When the phone is idle, these buttons control the ringer volume.
Maintenance
Cleaning the Phone
- Disconnect the phone from power before cleaning.
- Use a soft, damp, lint-free cloth to wipe the phone's surfaces.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents, as these can damage the finish.
- Avoid spraying liquids directly onto the phone.
Storage
Store the phone in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures when not in use for extended periods.
