Familiarize yourself with the device's buttons:
- ON/MEAS (Red Button): Powers on the device, initiates single measurement, or starts continuous measurement.
- + (Plus Button): Adds measurements, navigates up in menus.
- - (Minus Button): Subtracts measurements, navigates down in menus.
- UNIT Button: Changes measurement units (m, ft, in).
- Function Button (Cube Icon): Toggles between distance, area, volume, and Pythagorean measurement modes.
- Reference Point Button (Arrows Icon): Switches between front and rear measurement reference points.
- CLR/OFF (Red Button): Clears the current measurement, exits a function, or powers off the device (long press).
Powering On/Off
- To Power On: Press the ON/MEAS button. The backlight will illuminate, and the device will be ready for use.
- To Power Off: Press and hold the CLR/OFF button for a few seconds. The device also features an automatic power-off function after 150 seconds of inactivity to conserve battery life.
Changing Measurement Units
Press the UNIT button repeatedly to cycle through the available measurement units: meters (m), feet (ft), and inches (in).
Setting Measurement Reference Point
The device can measure from its front edge or its rear edge. Press the Reference Point button (arrows icon) to toggle between these two options. The display will show an icon indicating the current reference point.
Single Distance Measurement
- Ensure the device is powered on.
- Point the laser at the target surface.
- Press the ON/MEAS button once. The laser will activate.
- Press the ON/MEAS button again to take the measurement. The result will be displayed on the screen.
Area Measurement
- Press the Function button (cube icon) until the area icon (rectangle) appears on the display.
- Measure the first side (e.g., length) by pressing ON/MEAS.
- Measure the second side (e.g., width) by pressing ON/MEAS again.
- The device will automatically calculate and display the area.
Volume Measurement
- Press the Function button (cube icon) until the volume icon (3D cube) appears on the display.
- Measure the length by pressing ON/MEAS.
- Measure the width by pressing ON/MEAS.
- Measure the height by pressing ON/MEAS.
- The device will automatically calculate and display the volume.
Pythagorean Measurement (Indirect Measurement)
This mode allows you to calculate inaccessible heights or distances using two or three measurements based on the Pythagorean theorem.
- Press the Function button (cube icon) until the desired Pythagorean mode icon appears (e.g., triangle with one unknown side).
- Follow the on-screen prompts to take the required measurements (e.g., hypotenuse, base).
- The device will calculate and display the unknown side.
Addition and Subtraction of Measurements
After taking a measurement:
- Press the + button to add the next measurement to the current one.
- Press the - button to subtract the next measurement from the current one.
- Take the next measurement by pressing ON/MEAS. The result will be updated.
Min/Max Distance Tracking (Continuous Measurement)

Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the device. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the laser lens is clean and free of dust for accurate measurements.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage. Store the device in its portable pouch in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the display. Always use new 1.5V AAA alkaline batteries.
- Avoid Drops: While the device is designed to be robust, avoid dropping it or subjecting it to strong impacts, which can affect its calibration and functionality.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Device does not power on. | Batteries are dead or incorrectly installed. | Check battery polarity or replace with new AAA batteries. |
| Inaccurate measurements. | Laser lens is dirty; target surface is too reflective/absorbent; device is not stable; environmental interference. | Clean the laser lens. Measure against a non-reflective, non-absorbent surface. Ensure device is stable. Avoid strong light sources. |
| "Error" message on display. | Measurement out of range; internal error. | Ensure target is within 0.05m to 40m. Power off and restart the device. If error persists, contact support. |
| Laser beam is weak or not visible. | Low battery; strong ambient light. | Replace batteries. Use in lower ambient light conditions or use a target plate. |
