WaterCop WCDACT Electric Actuator Motor User Manual

Model: WCDACT

Introduction

This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of the WaterCop WCDACT Electric Actuator Motor. The WCDACT is a key component of the WaterCop Classic automatic water shut-off system, designed to detect water leaks and automatically close a compatible water valve to prevent potential water damage. This actuator is compatible with WaterCop valves ranging from 0.5 inches to 1.25 inches.

Product Overview

The WaterCop WCDACT Electric Actuator Motor is designed to integrate with WaterCop Classic systems. It receives wireless signals from flood sensors and can automatically activate a shut-off valve. Manual control options are also available directly on the unit.

Key Features:

Components:

The WaterCop WCDACT package typically includes the electric actuator unit and its power adapter. Please note that the water valve and moisture sensors are sold separately.

This image displays the main actuator unit, featuring "CLOSED" and "OPEN" indicator lights, corresponding "PRESS TO CLOSE" (red) and "PRESS TO OPEN" (green) buttons, and the WaterCop Classic branding. The unit also shows an AUX I/O port, 418 MHz frequency, and UL listing. Below the unit, a coiled power cable connects to a standard wall plug power adapter.

Setup and Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the reliable operation of your WaterCop system. Ensure all local plumbing and electrical codes are followed. Professional installation is recommended.

  1. Valve Installation: The WaterCop WCDACT actuator is designed to mount onto a compatible WaterCop "Water Cop Ready" brass ball valve (not included). Install the valve in your main water line according to the valve manufacturer's instructions and local plumbing codes. Ensure the valve is in the open position before attaching the actuator.
  2. Actuator Mounting: Carefully align the actuator with the valve stem. Secure the actuator to the valve using the provided hardware. Ensure a snug fit to allow for proper valve operation.
  3. Power Connection: Connect the actuator's power cord to the provided 115VAC power adapter. Plug the power adapter into a standard 115VAC, 60Hz electrical outlet. The actuator operates on 12VDC internally.
  4. Wireless Sensor Pairing (Optional): Refer to your WaterCop wireless flood sensor manual for instructions on pairing sensors with the WCDACT actuator. The actuator receives signals at 418 MHz.
  5. Security System Interface (Optional): The actuator features a built-in I/O port (RJ45 connection) and low voltage interface terminals for direct wiring to a home security alarm system or home automation control panel. For security systems with auxiliary outputs, contact your security system dealer/installer for interface installation. A 5 VDC output is available from the WaterCop unit.
  6. Initial Test: After installation, perform a manual test using the buttons on the actuator to ensure the valve opens and closes correctly.

Operating Instructions

The WaterCop WCDACT actuator offers both manual and automatic control over your water shut-off valve.

Manual Operation:

Automatic Operation:

When paired with WaterCop wireless flood sensors, the WCDACT actuator will automatically close the water valve upon detection of a leak. Once the leak is addressed and the sensor dries, the valve can be manually reopened using the "PRESS TO OPEN" button.

Alarm Interface:

If connected to a security system, the actuator can send signals indicating valve status or receive commands, depending on the security system's capabilities and configuration. Consult your security system's manual or installer for details on integration.

Maintenance

The WaterCop WCDACT Electric Actuator Motor requires minimal maintenance to ensure reliable operation.
