Setup Instructions
- Unpack and Inspect: Carefully remove all packaging materials. Inspect the unit for any shipping damage. Place the warmer on a stable, level, heat-resistant surface. Ensure there is adequate ventilation around the unit.
- Clean Components: Before first use, wash the stainless steel insert pot and hinged lid with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely. Wipe the exterior of the warmer base with a damp cloth.
- Fill Water Bath: Pour approximately 1.5 to 2 inches of clean water into the outer well of the warmer base. Do not overfill; the water level should be below the top rim of the outer well and below the top of the insert pot when placed inside. The water bath helps to evenly distribute heat and prevent scorching.
- Insert Pot: Place the clean 11 Qt. stainless steel insert pot into the water-filled outer well.
- Connect Power: Ensure the temperature control knob is in the “OFF” position. Plug the power cord into a grounded 120V AC electrical outlet.

Operating Instructions
- Prepare Food: Ensure the food you intend to warm is already cooked and hot. This unit is designed to hold food at serving temperatures, not to cook or rapidly reheat.
- Add Food to Insert Pot: Pour the pre-cooked, hot food into the stainless steel insert pot. Do not fill above the maximum fill line, if indicated, or to a level that would cause spillage when stirring or serving.
- Place Lid: Position the hinged lid onto the insert pot. The lid helps retain heat and moisture.
- Set Temperature: Turn the temperature control knob clockwise to the desired setting. Start with a medium setting (e.g., 3-5) and adjust as needed. The indicator light will illuminate, signifying that the heating element is active.
- Monitor Temperature: Periodically check the food temperature with a food thermometer to ensure it maintains a safe serving temperature (typically above 140°F / 60°C). Adjust the temperature knob as necessary.
- Serving: Use a clean ladle to serve food from the insert pot. Always replace the lid promptly after serving to maintain temperature.
- Shut Down: When finished, turn the temperature control knob counter-clockwise to the “OFF” position. Unplug the unit from the electrical outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Regular cleaning and maintenance will extend the life of your Avantco W800 soup kettle warmer.
Daily Cleaning
- Ensure the unit is unplugged and completely cool before cleaning.
- Remove the stainless steel insert pot and hinged lid. Wash them with warm, soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and dry completely.
- Carefully empty the water from the outer well of the warmer base. Use a soft, damp cloth with mild detergent to wipe down the interior and exterior of the base unit. Do not immerse the base unit in water or spray directly with water.
- Dry all surfaces thoroughly before storing or next use.
Descaling (As Needed)
Over time, mineral deposits may accumulate in the water bath. Descale the unit periodically to maintain efficiency.
- Ensure the unit is unplugged and cool.
- Fill the outer well with a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water, or a commercial descaling agent designed for food service equipment.
- Plug in the unit and turn the temperature knob to a medium setting. Allow the solution to heat for 15-30 minutes.
- Turn off the unit, unplug it, and allow the solution to cool completely.
- Carefully drain the descaling solution. Scrub any remaining deposits with a non-abrasive brush or sponge.
- Rinse the outer well thoroughly with clean water several times to remove all descaling residue. Dry completely.
