4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the bottom of the camera.
  2. Slide the cover open.
  3. Insert the NP-40 Lithium Battery into the compartment, ensuring the correct polarity.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover until it clicks securely into place.

4.2 Inserting an SD Card

The camera supports SD cards up to 32GB (not included). A high-speed SD card is recommended for optimal performance.

  1. Locate the SD card slot, typically on the side or bottom of the camera.
  2. Insert the SD card with the metal contacts facing down (or as indicated by the diagram near the slot) until it clicks into place.
  3. To remove, gently push the card in until it springs out.

4.3 Initial Charging

Before first use, fully charge the battery. Connect the camera to a power source using the provided Micro USB cable.

  1. Connect the small end of the Micro USB cable to the camera's USB port.
  2. Connect the other end to a USB wall adapter (not included) or a computer's USB port.
  3. The charging indicator light will illuminate. It will turn off or change color once charging is complete.

5. Operating the Camera

5.1 Powering On/Off

To power on the camera, press and hold the Power button until the LCD screen illuminates. To power off, press and hold the Power button again until the screen turns off. The camera also features an automatic shut-off function (Off / 60s / 180s) to conserve battery life.

5.2 Basic Recording (Video)

The DVH-591 supports 720P HD video resolution.

  1. Turn on the camera.
  2. Ensure the camera is in video recording mode (usually indicated by an icon on the screen). If not, use the Mode button to switch.
  3. Frame your shot using the 3.0-inch LCD screen.
  4. Press the Record button (usually marked with a red dot) to start recording. A timer or indicator will show recording in progress.
  5. Press the Record button again to stop recording.

5.3 Taking Photos

The camera captures images up to 20MP resolution.

  1. Turn on the camera.
  2. Switch to photo mode using the Mode button.
  3. Frame your shot. The camera features automatic identification of smiling faces.
  4. Press the Shutter button (often the same as the Record button, or a separate button) to take a photo.

5.4 Playback Mode

To review your recorded videos and photos:

  1. Switch to Playback mode using the Mode button.
  2. Use the navigation buttons (up/down/left/right) to browse through your files.
  3. Press the OK/Play button to view a video or a photo in full screen.

5.5 Menu Navigation and Settings

  • White Balance: Adjust for different lighting conditions (Auto / Sunny / Cloudy / Tungsten / Fluorescent).
  • EV (Exposure Value): Adjust brightness from -3.0EV to +3.0EV.
  • Shooting Mode: Select between Single Shot and Self-timer (2s / 5s / 10s).
  • Zoom: Utilize the 16X digital zoom for distant shots.
  • Anti-shake: Electronic anti-shake feature helps stabilize footage.
  • Language: Select your preferred language (English, German, French, Japanese, Italian, Russian, Turkish, Thai, Portuguese, Chinese).

5.6 Connecting to a TV/Computer

The camera supports USB 2.0, AV, and HDMI interfaces for connecting to external devices.

  • USB Connection: Connect the camera to a computer using the Micro USB cable to transfer files. The camera will appear as a removable disk.
  • AV Connection: Use the AV cable to connect the camera to a television for viewing content. Select the correct input on your TV.
  • HDMI Connection: For high-definition output, connect the camera to an HDMI-compatible display using an HDMI cable (not included).

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning the Camera

Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the camera body. For the lens, use a specialized lens cleaning cloth and solution. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

6.2 Battery Care

To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when not in use for extended periods. Recharge the battery periodically if stored for a long time.

6.3 Storage

When not in use, store the camera in its carrying bag in a cool, dry, and dust-free environment. Remove the battery if storing for a very long time to prevent leakage.
