Kit Components
The LINE2design Blood Pressure Kit-5 includes the following components:
- Aneroid Sphygmomanometer Gauge with Inflation Bulb
- Five (5) Blood Pressure Cuffs:
- Infant Cuff
- Child Cuff
- Adult Cuff
- Large Adult Cuff
- Thigh Cuff
- Rugged Nylon Carrying Case

Setup Instructions
- Unpack the Kit: Carefully remove all components from the nylon carrying case.
- Select the Correct Cuff Size: Choose the appropriate cuff based on the arm circumference of the user. The cuff should fit snugly but not too tightly, with the index line falling within the range markers on the cuff.
- Attach the Cuff: Wrap the selected cuff around the upper arm, approximately 1 inch (2.5 cm) above the elbow. Ensure the artery marker on the cuff aligns with the brachial artery.
- Connect the Sphygmomanometer: Securely connect the inflation bulb and gauge assembly to the cuff's tubing. Ensure all connections are tight to prevent air leakage during measurement.

Operating Instructions
Follow these steps for accurate blood pressure measurement:
- Position the User: Have the user sit comfortably with their arm supported at heart level. Ensure they are relaxed and have not consumed caffeine or exercised recently.
- Inflate the Cuff: Close the air release valve on the inflation bulb by turning it clockwise. Rapidly inflate the cuff by squeezing the bulb until the gauge reads approximately 20-30 mmHg above the expected systolic pressure, or until the radial pulse is no longer palpable.
- Deflate the Cuff: Slowly open the air release valve by turning it counter-clockwise, allowing the pressure to drop at a rate of 2-3 mmHg per second.
- Listen for Korotkoff Sounds (with stethoscope, not included): If using a stethoscope, place the diaphragm over the brachial artery. Note the pressure reading when the first clear, tapping sound (systolic pressure) is heard. Continue to listen as the pressure drops. Note the pressure reading when the sounds disappear or become muffled (diastolic pressure).
- Record Readings: Record the systolic and diastolic pressure readings.
- Release Remaining Air: Fully open the air release valve to completely deflate the cuff.

Maintenance
- Cleaning Cuffs: Clean cuffs with a damp cloth and mild disinfectant. Allow to air dry completely before storage. Do not immerse the cuff in water.
- Cleaning Gauge and Bulb: Wipe the aneroid gauge and inflation bulb with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Storage: Store the kit in its rugged nylon carrying case in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Ensure tubing is not kinked or pinched.
- Calibration: The aneroid sphygmomanometer should be calibrated periodically by a qualified technician to ensure continued accuracy.
Troubleshooting
- Inaccurate Readings:
- Ensure the correct cuff size is used and applied properly.
- Check for air leaks in the cuff, tubing, or connections.
- Verify the air release valve is fully closed during inflation and opened slowly during deflation.
- Consider professional calibration if inaccuracies persist.
- Gauge Needle Does Not Return to Zero:
- Gently tap the gauge or unscrew the air release valve slightly and re-tighten to reset the needle. If the issue persists, the gauge may require professional service or replacement.
- Tubes Detach Easily:
- Ensure the tubes are securely connected to both the cuff and the gauge/bulb assembly. If connections are loose, they may need to be re-seated firmly.
- Difficulty Inflating Cuff:
- Check that the air release valve is fully closed.
- Inspect the cuff and tubing for any punctures or leaks.
- Ensure the inflation bulb is functioning correctly.
