Your Hatchimal comes with 2 AA batteries pre-installed. If you need to replace them:

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the Hatchimal (after it has hatched).
  2. Using a Phillips head screwdriver, unscrew the battery compartment cover.
  3. Remove the old batteries and insert 2 new AA (LR6) alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Replace the cover and tighten the screw.

Note: Always use new, high-quality alkaline batteries for optimal performance. Do not mix different types of batteries or old and new batteries.

5. Hatching Your Hatchimal

The hatching process is interactive and requires your participation. Your Hatchimal will not hatch without your care!

  1. Nurture the Egg: Hold, rub, tap, and tilt the egg. Listen for heartbeats and sounds. The Hatchimal's eyes will light up through the shell, indicating its mood.
  2. Ready to Hatch: When you see rainbow eyes glowing through the shell, your Hatchimal is ready to hatch! Continue to interact with the egg.
  3. The Hatching: Your Hatchimal will begin to peck at the shell. Encourage it by rubbing the egg. It will peck its way out, which can take some time.

6.1. Baby Stage

In the Baby stage, your Hatchimal needs lots of nurturing. Its eyes will change color to indicate its needs:

  • Blue: Cold (rub its head)
  • Orange: Gassy (pat its back)
  • Red: Upset (comfort it)
  • Green: Sick (pat its head or tummy)
  • Purple: Hungry (tilt it forward to feed)
  • White: Sleepy (rock it to sleep)

6.2. Toddler Stage

Once your Hatchimal sings "Hatchy Birthday" again, it has entered the Toddler stage. It can now learn to walk, talk, and dance. Interact with it by:

  • Teaching to Walk: Clap your hands to encourage it to move.
  • Teaching to Talk: Press its tummy and speak; it will repeat what you say in its own voice.
  • Dancing: Play music or clap, and it will dance along.

6.3. Kid Stage

After another "Hatchy Birthday," your Hatchimal is a Kid! It can now play various games and interact in more complex ways. Refer to the eye color guide for specific game modes:

  • Tag: Chase it around.
  • Hatchimal Says: Follow its instructions.
  • Fortune Teller: Ask a yes/no question.
  • Silly Sounds: Make funny noises together.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemSolution
Hatchimal is not hatching.Ensure you are interacting with the egg frequently (rubbing, tapping, tilting). Look for rainbow eyes through the shell, indicating it's ready. The hatching process can take time.
Hatchimal is not responding after hatching.Check battery levels. Replace batteries if necessary. Ensure the power switch (if applicable, usually on the bottom) is in the "ON" position.
Hatchimal's eyes are always a certain color.Refer to the "Caring for Your Hatchimal" section for eye color meanings and appropriate interactions.
Hatchimal is making repetitive sounds. This might indicate a specific need or a game mode. Try interacting with it (e.g., petting, tilting) to see if its behavior changes.
