- Power Connection: Insert the power cord firmly into the power cord receptacle on the rice cooker, then plug the other end into a suitable 220V electrical outlet.
Operating Instructions
1. Measuring Rice and Water
- Use the provided measuring cup for accurate rice measurement. One cup of rice is approximately 180ml.
- Wash the rice thoroughly until the water runs clear.
- Place the washed rice into the inner pot.
- Add water according to the water level markings inside the inner pot. Each marking corresponds to the number of cups of rice. For example, for 3 cups of white rice, fill water to the "WHITE RICE 3" line. Adjust water levels slightly for desired texture (Softer/Harder).
2. Cooking White Rice
- Place the inner pot with rice and water into the main body. Close the outer lid securely.
- Press the MENU button repeatedly until "WHITE RICE" is selected on the LCD display. You can also select "REGULAR", "SOFTER", or "HARDER" for white rice texture.
- Press the COOKING button to start the cooking cycle. The display will show the remaining cooking time.
- Once cooking is complete, the rice cooker will automatically switch to the "KEEP WARM" function.
- Fluff the rice with the spatula immediately after cooking to release excess moisture.
3. Cooking Other Rice Types and Functions
The Zojirushi NP-HBQ10 offers various cooking settings for different rice types and preferences:
- Sushi Rice: Select "SUSHI" from the MENU.
- Porridge: Select "PORRIDGE" from the MENU.
- Sweet Rice: Select "SWEET" from the MENU.
- Brown Rice: Select "BROWN" from the MENU. This setting is optimized for cooking brown rice, which requires more water and a longer cooking time.
- GABA Brown Rice: Select "GABA BROWN" from the MENU. This setting activates brown rice to increase its nutritional values before cooking.
- Mixed Rice: Select "MIXED" from the MENU for cooking rice with other ingredients.
- Quick Cooking: Select "QUICK COOKING" for faster cooking of white rice. Note that rice texture may vary.
Follow the water level markings in the inner pot specific to each rice type.
4. Keep Warm Function
- After cooking, the unit automatically enters "KEEP WARM" mode.
- To manually activate or switch between modes, press the KEEP WARM button.
- Regular Keep Warm: Maintains rice at an optimal serving temperature.
- Extended Keep Warm: For longer warming periods, typically up to 24 hours, to prevent drying or discoloration.
5. Timer Function (Delay Cooking)
- Prepare rice and water in the inner pot as usual.
- Select your desired cooking menu (e.g., White Rice).
- Press the TIMER button. The display will show a preset time.
- Use the TIME SETTING arrows (up/down) to adjust the desired completion time.
- Press the COOKING button to activate the timer. The unit will start cooking automatically to finish at the set time.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and longevity of your rice cooker. Always unplug the unit before cleaning.
- Inner Pot: The black thick spherical inner cooking pan should be hand washed with a soft sponge and mild dish soap. Do not use abrasive cleaners or metal scrubbers, as this can damage the non-stick coating.
- Inner Lid: The inner lid is detachable and washable. Remove it after each use and wash with warm soapy water. Ensure it is completely dry before reattaching.
- Main Body Exterior: Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or immerse the main body in water.
- Steam Vent: Check the steam vent regularly for any blockages and clean if necessary.
- Spatula and Measuring Cup: Wash with warm soapy water and dry.
