6. Cleaning and Maintenance

6.1 Daily Cleaning

  • Always unplug the coffee maker and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  • Disassemble the coffee maker: separate the upper and lower chambers, remove the filter funnel.
  • Wash all parts (except the electric base) with warm water. Do not use abrasive sponges or harsh detergents, as these can damage the aluminum.
  • Rinse thoroughly and dry all components completely before reassembling or storing.
  • Wipe the electric base with a damp cloth. Do not immerse it in water.

6.2 Safety Valve Maintenance

The patented Bialetti safety valve is designed for easy inspection and cleaning. Periodically check the valve for any coffee residue or blockages. If necessary, gently clean it with a small brush or toothpick to ensure proper function.

6.3 Descaling

Over time, mineral deposits (limescale) can build up inside the boiler. To descale, fill the lower chamber with a solution of water and white vinegar (50/50 ratio) up to the safety valve.
