2. Safety Information

WARNING: Failure to follow these safety instructions could result in serious injury or death.

  • Carbon Monoxide Hazard: Generators produce carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless, poisonous gas. Operate generators outdoors only, far away from windows, doors, and vents. Never operate indoors, in a garage, or in any enclosed space.
  • Electrical Shock Hazard: Do not operate the generator in wet conditions. Ensure all electrical connections are dry and secure. Never touch the generator with wet hands.
  • Fire Hazard: Gasoline is highly flammable. Refuel in a well-ventilated area with the engine off and cool. Do not smoke or allow open flames near the generator. Store fuel in an approved container.
  • Hot Surfaces: The generator's engine and muffler become very hot during operation and remain hot for some time after shutdown. Avoid touching hot surfaces to prevent burns.
  • Children and Pets: Keep children and pets away from the generator, especially during operation.
  • Grounding: Always properly ground the generator before use to prevent electrical shock. Consult local electrical codes for proper grounding procedures.

3. Setup and Preparation

Before starting your Pramac P2000i generator, perform the following steps:

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the generator from its packaging. Inspect for any shipping damage.
  2. Placement: Place the generator on a firm, level surface outdoors, away from any combustible materials and at least 1 meter (3 feet) from buildings or other equipment. Ensure adequate ventilation.
  3. Add Engine Oil: The engine is shipped without oil. Remove the oil filler cap/dipstick and add the recommended engine oil (e.g., SAE 10W-30) up to the upper level mark on the dipstick. Do not overfill. The Yamaha MZ80 engine requires specific oil. Refer to the engine manual for exact specifications.
  4. Add Fuel: Ensure the engine is off and cool. Open the fuel tank cap and carefully fill the tank with fresh, unleaded gasoline (minimum 87 octane). The fuel tank capacity is 4.2 liters. Do not overfill; leave space for fuel expansion. Securely close the fuel cap.
  5. Grounding: Connect a grounding wire from the generator's grounding terminal to a suitable ground source, as per local electrical codes.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Starting the Generator

  1. Ensure all electrical loads are disconnected from the generator.
  2. Turn the fuel valve to the "ON" position.
  3. Move the choke lever to the "CHOKE" position (if the engine is cold).
  4. Turn the engine switch to the "ON" position.
  5. Pull the recoil starter handle slowly until resistance is felt, then pull briskly. Repeat if necessary until the engine starts.
  6. Once the engine starts, gradually move the choke lever to the "RUN" position.
  7. Allow the engine to warm up for a few minutes before connecting electrical loads.

4.2 Connecting Electrical Loads

  • The generator provides one 230V 16A Schuko outlet and one 12V DC outlet.
  • Connect appliances one at a time, starting with the highest wattage device.
  • Do not exceed the generator's rated output of 1600W (continuous) or 2000W (maximum). Overloading will trip the circuit breaker.
  • For parallel operation, use the provided parallel connection cables to link two Pramac P2000i units for increased power output (up to 3.2 kW). Refer to the parallel kit instructions for detailed setup.

4.3 Stopping the Generator

  1. Disconnect all electrical loads from the generator.
  2. Turn the engine switch to the "OFF" position.
  3. Turn the fuel valve to the "OFF" position.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and reliable operation of your generator. Always ensure the engine is off and cool before performing any maintenance.

  • Engine Oil: Check oil level before each use. Change engine oil after the first 20 hours of operation, then every 50-100 hours or annually, whichever comes first.
  • Air Filter: Inspect the air filter every 50 hours or more frequently in dusty conditions. Clean or replace as needed.
  • Spark Plug: Inspect the spark plug every 100 hours. Clean or replace if fouled or worn.
  • Fuel Filter: Inspect and clean the fuel filter periodically.
  • Storage: For long-term storage, drain the fuel tank and carburetor, or add a fuel stabilizer. Remove the spark plug and add a small amount of engine oil into the cylinder, then pull the recoil starter a few times to distribute the oil.

6. Troubleshooting
