Setup and Installation
Installation of the Gobrico Privacy Door Lever Handle is designed to be straightforward and can be completed with a screwdriver. Follow these steps for a successful installation:
- Prepare the Door: Ensure your door has standard bore holes. The adjustable latch fits backsets of 2-3/8" (60mm) or 2-3/4" (70mm) and is suitable for door thicknesses from 1-3/8" to 1-3/4" (35mm-45mm). If replacing an old handle, remove it completely.
- Install the Latch Mechanism: Insert the latch mechanism into the edge of the door. Ensure the bevel of the latch bolt faces the direction the door closes. Secure it with the short screws.
- Adjust Latch (if necessary): The latch is adjustable between 60mm and 70mm backsets. To adjust, pull the latch faceplate and rotate the housing to the desired length.
- Install Exterior and Interior Levers: Insert the exterior door lever through the door hole, ensuring the spindle aligns with the latch mechanism. Place the interior door lever onto the spindle, aligning the screw holes. Secure both levers together using the long screws.
- Install Strike Plate: On the door frame, align the strike plate with the latch bolt. Mark and chisel out the area if necessary, then secure the strike plate with the remaining short screws. Install the strike plate box behind the strike plate for a cleaner finish.
- Test Operation: Close the door and test the handle's operation from both sides. Ensure the latch retracts smoothly and the privacy lock engages and disengages correctly.

Reversible Handing
This door lever is designed to be reversible, adapting to both left-handed and right-handed doors. If the lever is not oriented correctly after installation, you can easily reverse its handing:
- Locate the small set screw on the underside of the lever handle.
- Use the provided hook spanner (Allen wrench) to loosen this set screw.
- Carefully pull the lever handle off the spindle.
- Rotate the lever handle 180 degrees to change its orientation (e.g., from left-open to right-open).
- Slide the lever handle back onto the spindle, ensuring it is fully seated.
- Tighten the set screw firmly to secure the lever in its new position.

Maintenance
To ensure the long-lasting appearance and functionality of your Gobrico door lever, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Clean the handle regularly with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals, or polishes, as these can damage the satin nickel finish.
- Lubrication: If the latch mechanism becomes stiff over time, apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant to the moving parts of the latch bolt. Do not use oil-based lubricants, as they can attract dust and debris.
- Tightening Screws: Periodically check all mounting screws and tighten them if they have become loose. Loose screws can affect the handle's stability and operation.
- Avoid Impact: While durable, avoid striking the handle with hard objects, which could cause dents or damage to the finish.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Handle is loose or wobbly. | Mounting screws are loose. | Tighten the long screws connecting the interior and exterior levers. |
| Latch does not retract smoothly. | Debris in latch mechanism or lack of lubrication. | Clean the latch mechanism and apply silicone-based lubricant. |
| Privacy lock does not engage/disengage. | Internal mechanism misalignment or obstruction. | Ensure the levers are fully seated and screws are tightened. If issue persists, re-install the handle carefully following all steps. |
| Lever handle is oriented incorrectly (e.g., points up instead of down). | Incorrect initial orientation or accidental rotation. | Refer to the "Reversible Handing" section in Operating Instructions to adjust the lever orientation using the hook spanner. |
