Safety Instructions
Always observe the following safety precautions to prevent personal injury or damage to the pump:
- Electrical Safety: Ensure the power supply matches the pump's specifications. Do not operate the pump with a damaged power cord or plug. Always connect to a grounded outlet. Never touch the pump or water while the pump is connected to power.
- Water Safety: Do not use the pump for flammable, corrosive, or explosive liquids. The pump is designed for water only. Ensure the pump is fully submerged during operation to prevent overheating.
- Handling: Never lift the pump by its power cable or float switch cable. Use the integrated handle for transport. Keep children and unauthorized persons away from the operating area.
- Thermal Protection: The pump is equipped with thermal protection that automatically shuts it off if it overheats. It will restart automatically after cooling down.
Product Components
The STERWINS submersible pump consists of the main pump body, an integrated handle, a float switch, and a universal hose connection fitting.
Figure 2: Close-up of the float switch. The float switch automatically controls the pump's operation based on water level.
Setup
1. Hose Connection
The pump comes with a universal fitting that accommodates hoses with diameters of 40 mm, 25 mm, and 19 mm. Secure the hose to the fitting using a clamping ring (not included for all sizes) and ensure a tight seal, possibly using PTFE tape for all connections.
Figure 3: Hose connection options. This diagram illustrates how to connect hoses of different diameters (40mm, 25mm, 19mm) to the pump using clamping rings and a tap nozzle. PTFE tape is recommended for all connections.
2. Positioning the Pump
Place the pump on a stable, flat surface in the water. Ensure the pump is fully submerged and not resting on soft sediment that could block the intake. The maximum submersion depth is 7 meters.
3. Adjusting for Clear or Dirty Water
The pump is designed for both clear and dirty water. For clear water, the intake allows particles up to 2 mm. For dirty water, the pump can handle particles up to 27 mm. To switch to dirty water mode, adjust the base of the pump to open the larger intake ports.
Figure 4: Bottom view showing 2-in-1 functionality. This image highlights the intake settings for clean water (2mm max particle size) and dirty water (27mm max particle size).
Figure 5: Bottom view with dirty water intake open. This image demonstrates how the base can be adjusted to allow larger particles for dirty water pumping.
Operating Instructions
1. Float Switch Adjustment
The float switch controls the automatic on/off function of the pump. Adjust the length of the float switch cable to set the desired water levels for activation and deactivation. Ensure the float switch can move freely without obstruction.
- ON Level: The pump starts when the water level rises and lifts the float switch.
- OFF Level: The pump stops when the water level drops and the float switch falls.
- Minimum Water Level: The pump can operate down to a minimum water level of 2 mm in clear water mode.
Figure 6: Float switch operation. This diagram illustrates how the float switch activates and deactivates the pump based on water levels, including the minimum water level for operation and maximum lift height.
2. Starting the Pump
Once the pump is positioned and the hose is connected, plug the pump into a suitable grounded power outlet. The pump will start automatically if the water level is above the float switch's 'ON' level.
3. Stopping the Pump
The pump will stop automatically when the water level drops below the float switch's 'OFF' level. To manually stop the pump, unplug it from the power outlet.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your pump.
- Cleaning: After each use, especially when pumping dirty water, rinse the pump thoroughly with clean water to remove any debris. Check the intake ports for blockages.
- Inspection: Periodically inspect the power cable and plug for any signs of damage. Check the float switch for free movement.
- Storage: When not in use, store the pump in a dry, frost-free location.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Pump does not start | No power supply; Float switch not activated; Thermal protection engaged; Impeller blocked. | Check power connection; Adjust float switch position; Allow pump to cool down; Clean impeller. |
| Low flow rate | Hose kinked or blocked; Intake ports blocked; Insufficient water level. | Check and clear hose; Clean intake ports; Ensure adequate water level. |
| Pump runs continuously | Float switch stuck in 'ON' position; Float switch cable too long. | Check float switch for obstructions; Adjust float switch cable length. |
If problems persist, contact qualified service personnel.
