  • Dedicated modes and voices for both guitar and bass players, including flanging and tremolo.
  • Tri-mode operation with internal switching for vintage and modern tones.
  • Independent control over high and low frequency chorus depth.

2. Setup

2.1 Unpacking and Inspection

Carefully remove the Keeley Seafoam Plus pedal from its packaging. Inspect the pedal for any signs of damage that may have occurred during shipping. The package should contain the pedal, a power supply, and this user manual.

2.2 Power Requirements

The Seafoam Plus pedal requires a 9V DC power supply with a center-negative barrel connector. The current draw is approximately 100 Milliamps (mA). Use only the included power supply or a compatible, regulated power supply to prevent damage to the unit.

  • Voltage: 9 Volts DC
  • Amperage: 100 Milliamps (minimum)
  • Polarity: Center-negative
  • Power Source: Corded Electric

2.3 Connections

Connect your instrument (guitar or bass) to the INPUT jack on the right side of the pedal using a standard 1/4-inch instrument cable. Connect the OUTPUT jack on the left side of the pedal to your amplifier or the next pedal in your signal chain using another 1/4-inch instrument cable. Ensure all connections are secure before applying power.

  • Input/Output: Mono Instrument Input, Mono Instrument Output
  • Hardware Interface: 1/4-inch Audio
  • Signal Format: Analog

3.1 External Controls:

  1. RATE Knob: Controls the speed of the modulation effect. Turn clockwise for faster rates, counter-clockwise for slower rates.
  2. MODE Toggle Switch: Selects between the three primary modes:
    • ADT (Automatic Double Tracking): Provides a subtle, thickening effect similar to double-tracked audio.
    • Seafoam: Classic, lush chorus effect, reminiscent of vintage analog units.
    • Dual Chorus: Engages the unique frequency crossover-based dual-chorus engine, allowing independent control over high and low frequencies.
  3. SPACE Knob: Adjusts the spatial depth or spread of the effect. This control interacts with the selected mode to create wider or more focused sounds.
  4. DEPTH Knob: Controls the intensity or amount of the modulation. Higher settings result in more pronounced chorus or vibrato.
  5. MIX Knob: Blends the dry (unaffected) signal with the wet (effected) signal.
    • DRY: Fully dry signal, no effect.
    • 50/50: Equal blend of dry and wet signals.
    • WET: Fully wet signal, no dry signal.
  6. FOOTSWITCH: Engages or bypasses the effect. True bypass ensures your signal remains unaffected when the pedal is off.

3.2 Internal DIP Switches:

The Seafoam Plus pedal includes two internal DIP switches for additional features and tone shaping. These switches are located inside the pedal enclosure and require opening the unit to access. The factory default setting has both switches in the DOWN position.

  • SWITCH 1 (Bass Mode):
    • UP Position: Activates Bass Mode. In this mode, all features work with custom EQ settings and sounds specifically tailored for bass players, including flanging and tremolo effects.
    • DOWN Position (Factory Default): Standard guitar mode.
  • SWITCH 2 (Tone Voicing):
    • UP Position: Provides a crisp, lush, full-range chorus with reduced noise and vintage warmth.
    • DOWN Position (Factory Default): Modern tone voicing.

Caution: Opening the pedal may void your warranty if not done correctly. Consult the manufacturer's website or a qualified technician if you are unsure.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning

To clean the pedal, use a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or waxes, as these can damage the finish and internal components. Ensure the pedal is disconnected from power before cleaning.

4.2 Storage

When not in use for extended periods, store the pedal in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Disconnect all cables and remove the power supply.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Keeley Seafoam Plus pedal, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • No Sound:
    • Check all cable connections (instrument, amplifier, power).
    • Ensure the power supply is correctly connected and providing the specified 9V DC, center-negative power.
    • Test with different cables and a different power supply if available.
    • Bypass the pedal to confirm your instrument and amplifier are working correctly.
  • Effect Not Engaging:
    • Verify the footswitch is functioning.
    • Check the MIX knob; if set fully to DRY, no effect will be heard.
  • Unwanted Noise:
    • Ensure you are using a regulated power supply. Unregulated power supplies can introduce noise.
    • Check for ground loops in your signal chain.
    • Try isolating the pedal from other pedals or power sources to identify the source of the noise.
  • Effect Sounds Incorrect:
    • Review the settings of the RATE, DEPTH, SPACE, and MIX knobs.
    • Confirm the MODE toggle switch is set to your desired effect.
    • Check the internal DIP switch settings to ensure they align with your intended tone (e.g., Bass Mode or Tone Voicing).

If these steps do not resolve the issue, please contact Keeley Electronics customer support for further assistance.
