Metabo 627046000 Cordless Charger Instruction Manual

Model: 627046000

1. Product Overview

The Metabo 627046000 Cordless Charger, also known as the Metabo ASC30-36 charger, is an essential component of Metabo Ultra-M technology. This charger is designed to efficiently charge both Metabo 18 Volt and 36 Volt battery packs. It incorporates Metabo's patented Air Cooled system, which features a built-in fan. This system actively cools a hot battery pack at the beginning of the charging cycle, significantly reducing the overall charging time. The result is faster charging and an extended lifespan for the battery, allowing it to endure more charge/discharge cycles compared to other battery charging methods.

  • Advanced battery monitoring to optimize charging performance and battery health.
  • Rapid charge time of approximately 30 minutes for a 1.5 Ah battery.
  • "Air cooled" function actively cools the battery during charging, enhancing efficiency and longevity.
  • Compatible with all Metabo Li-Power Compact, Li-Power Plus, and Li-Power Extreme battery packs.

2. Setup

2.1 Unpacking

Carefully remove the Metabo 627046000 Cordless Charger from its packaging. Inspect the charger for any signs of damage that may have occurred during transit. Ensure all components listed as "Included Components" (charger unit) are present. This product does not include a battery pack.

2.2 Power Connection

  1. Locate a standard 120 Volt AC power outlet.
  2. Plug the charger's power cord into the outlet. The charger is designed for 120 Volts input.
  3. Ensure the connection is secure. The charger may perform a brief self-check upon power-up.

Note: The charger is designed for indoor use in dry conditions. Do not expose the charger to moisture or extreme temperatures.

3. Operation

3.1 Charging a Battery Pack

  1. Ensure the charger is connected to a power source as described in Section 2.2.
  2. Align your Metabo Li-Power Compact, Li-Power Plus, or Li-Power Extreme battery pack with the charging slot on the charger.
  3. Slide the battery pack firmly into the charging slot until it clicks into place.
  4. The charger will automatically begin the charging process. Indicators on the charger will illuminate to show the charging status. Refer to the charger's specific indicator legend for detailed status information (e.g., charging, fully charged, error).
  5. During charging, especially with hot battery packs, the "Air Cooled" fan may activate. This is normal operation and indicates the system is actively cooling the battery for optimal charging.
  6. Once the battery is fully charged, the charger's indicator will change to reflect a full charge.
  7. To remove the battery, press the release button (if present) and slide the battery pack out of the slot.

Important: Only charge Metabo Li-Power battery packs with this charger. Attempting to charge incompatible batteries may result in damage to the battery, charger, or personal injury.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning

To maintain optimal performance and extend the life of your charger, keep it clean. Disconnect the charger from the power outlet before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the exterior of the charger. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or immerse the charger in water. Ensure the ventilation slots are free from dust and debris to allow proper airflow for the "Air Cooled" system.

4.2 Storage

When not in use, store the charger in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Keep it out of reach of children. It is recommended to disconnect the charger from the power supply when storing for extended periods.

5. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Charger not powering on.No power from outlet; loose connection.Check power outlet with another device. Ensure power cord is securely plugged into charger and outlet.
Battery not charging.Battery not properly inserted; battery fault; charger fault.Re-insert battery firmly. Try charging a different, known-good Metabo battery. If issue persists, contact Metabo support.
Charger fan is loud or constantly running.Normal operation for "Air Cooled" system; blocked ventilation. This is often normal, especially with hot batteries. Ensure ventilation slots are clear of obstructions.
Error indicator light is on.Battery temperature too high/low; battery fault; charger fault.Allow battery to cool down or warm up to room temperature. Try re-inserting the battery. If error persists, the battery or charger may be faulty.

If troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue, please refer to the Warranty & Support section for further assistance.
