1. Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the Korg DSDAC10R. This device is a high-quality 1-bit USB DAC (Digital-to-Analog Converter) and ADC (Analog-to-Digital Converter) designed to provide superior audio performance for both playback and recording. 2. Safety Precautions

5. Setup

5.1 System Requirements

  • Operating System: Windows (7 or later), macOS (10.8 or later)
  • USB Port: USB 2.0 or higher
  • Software: Korg AudioGate (downloadable from Korg website)

5.2 Driver and Software Installation

  1. Before connecting the DSDAC10R to your computer, download the latest drivers and the AudioGate software from the official Korg website.
  2. Install the drivers first, following the on-screen instructions. Restart your computer if prompted.
  3. Install the AudioGate software.

5.3 Connecting the DSDAC10R

  1. Connect the DSDAC10R to your computer using the supplied USB cable. The unit is bus-powered, so no external power adapter is needed.
  2. Connect the LINE OUT jacks (R/L) on the rear panel of the DSDAC10R to the analog input of your amplifier or powered speakers using RCA cables.
  3. If you are connecting a turntable, connect its RCA output to the LINE IN / PHONO jacks (R/L) on the DSDAC10R. Ensure the turntable's ground wire is connected to the ground terminal on the DSDAC10R to minimize hum.
  4. Connect your headphones to the headphone jack on the front panel if desired.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Power On/Off

The DSDAC10R powers on automatically when connected to a computer via USB. The illumination around the volume knob will light up. To power off, simply disconnect the USB cable.

6.2 Playback (DAC Function)

  1. Ensure the DSDAC10R is connected to your computer and audio system.
  2. Open your audio playback software (e.g., Korg AudioGate, foobar2000, JRiver Media Center).
  3. In your software's audio settings, select the Korg DSDAC10R as the output device.
  4. Start playing your audio files. Adjust the volume using the DSDAC10R's front panel knob or your software's volume control.

6.3 Recording (ADC Function)

  1. Connect your analog source (e.g., turntable) to the LINE IN / PHONO jacks on the DSDAC10R.
  2. Open the Korg AudioGate software on your computer.
  3. In AudioGate, select the DSDAC10R as the input device.
  4. Configure your recording settings (sample rate, bit depth, DSD format) within AudioGate.
  5. Start playback on your analog source and begin recording in AudioGate. Monitor the input levels to prevent clipping.

7. Maintenance

The Korg DSDAC10R requires minimal maintenance. Follow these guidelines to keep your unit in optimal condition:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior of the unit. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, disconnect the USB cable and store the unit in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Ventilation: Ensure that the unit has adequate ventilation. Do not cover the unit or place it in an enclosed space that restricts airflow.
