Setup and Installation
Before beginning installation, ensure you have the necessary tools (drill, screwdriver, cable ties, etc.) and an HD-TVI 4.0 compatible Digital Video Recorder (DVR).
1. Site Selection
- Choose a location that provides the desired field of view and is within reach of power and video cables.
- Consider potential obstructions and lighting conditions. The camera's IP67 and IK10 ratings make it suitable for outdoor, exposed environments.
2. Mounting the Camera
- Use the provided installation template to mark drilling points on the mounting surface (wall or ceiling).
- Drill pilot holes and insert wall anchors if mounting on drywall or masonry.
- Secure the camera base to the mounting surface using the provided screws.
- Route the power and video cables through the designated cable entry points.
3. Wiring Connections
- Connect the camera's BNC video output to an input channel on your HD-TVI 4.0 DVR.
- Connect the camera's DC 12V power input to a compatible power adapter (not included). Ensure the power supply meets the camera's voltage and current requirements.
4. Initial Power-Up and Configuration
- Power on the camera and the DVR.
- Access the DVR's interface to view the camera feed.
- Adjust the camera's angle and focus as needed. The 3-axis adjustment allows for flexible positioning.
- Utilize the UTC (Up The Coax) control feature via your DVR to access the camera's On-Screen Display (OSD) menu for advanced settings adjustments (e.g., WDR, DNR, BLC, Starlight settings).
Operating the Camera
Once installed and configured, the camera operates continuously, providing surveillance footage to your connected HD-TVI DVR.
Video Recording and Playback
Refer to your HD-TVI DVR's user manual for detailed instructions on recording schedules, motion detection setup, and video playback.
Night Vision and Starlight Technology
The camera automatically switches to night vision mode in low-light conditions, utilizing its Matrix IR 2.0 LEDs to illuminate up to 65 feet. The integrated Starlight Technology enhances low-light performance, providing color images even in very dim environments, improving detail and recognition compared to traditional black and white infrared footage.
Advanced Image Settings (OSD Menu)
Access the camera's OSD menu through your DVR's UTC control to fine-tune image parameters:
- WDR (Wide Dynamic Range): Improves image clarity in scenes with both very bright and very dark areas.
- DNR (Digital Noise Reduction): Reduces visual noise in low-light conditions, resulting in clearer images and smaller file sizes.
- BLC (Back Light Compensation): Adjusts exposure to prevent subjects from appearing as silhouettes against bright backgrounds.
- Smart IR: Prevents overexposure of objects close to the camera in night vision mode.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your security camera.
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the camera's outer dome with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the lens or housing.
- Cable Inspection: Annually inspect all cables for signs of wear, damage, or loose connections.
- Firmware Updates: Check the Monoprice website for any available firmware updates for your camera or compatible DVR.
