Key Features:

  • Supports up to 20 amps, ideal for heavy-duty electrical appliances and equipment.

  • Classic white design that complements a variety of interior decor styles.
  • Designed for simple installation in standard electrical boxes.
  • Built with high-quality materials for long-lasting reliability and safety.

4. Setup (Installation)

  1. Turn Off Power: Locate the circuit breaker or fuse that controls the outlet you are replacing or installing. Turn it OFF. Verify power is off using a voltage tester.
  2. Remove Old Receptacle (if applicable): Carefully remove the wall plate and unscrew the old receptacle from the electrical box. Disconnect the wires, noting which wire was connected to which terminal.
  3. Wire the New GFCI:
    • Connect the incoming HOT (black) wire to the brass "LINE" terminal.
    • Connect the incoming NEUTRAL (white) wire to the silver "LINE" terminal.
    • Connect the GROUND (green or bare copper) wire to the green ground screw.
    • If connecting to downstream outlets, connect the outgoing HOT and NEUTRAL wires to the "LOAD" terminals (these are usually covered by a yellow sticker that must be removed).

Note: Incorrect wiring of LINE and LOAD terminals will prevent the GFCI from providing ground fault protection to downstream outlets.

  4. Mount the Receptacle: Carefully fold the wires into the electrical box. Secure the GFCI receptacle to the electrical box using the provided screws.
  5. Install Wall Plate: Attach the wall plate (such as the antimicrobial treated plastic wall plate) over the installed GFCI receptacle.
  6. Restore Power: Turn the power back ON at the circuit breaker or fuse box.

5. Operating Instructions

Once installed and power is restored, the GFCI receptacle is ready for use. The green indicator light should be illuminated, indicating that the GFCI is functioning correctly and providing protection.

Test and Reset Buttons:

  • TEST Button (Black): Press this button to simulate a ground fault. The GFCI should trip, and the green indicator light will turn off (or a red light may appear, depending on the model). This confirms the GFCI is working.
  • RESET Button (Red): After testing or if the GFCI trips due to a ground fault, press this button firmly to restore power. The green indicator light should illuminate again.

If the GFCI does not reset or trips immediately after resetting, there may be a persistent ground fault or wiring issue that needs to be addressed by a qualified electrician.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the continued safety and performance of your GFCI receptacle.

Monthly Testing:

  1. Plug a lamp or other device into the GFCI receptacle to confirm power is on.
  2. Press the "TEST" button. The GFCI should trip, and the lamp should turn off.
  3. Press the "RESET" button. The GFCI should reset, and the lamp should turn back on.
  4. If the GFCI fails this test, it should be replaced immediately.

Cleaning:

Clean the surface of the receptacle and wall plate with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents. If an antimicrobial treated wall plate is used, its properties help inhibit the growth of mold, mildew, and bacteria.
