Introduction
Thank you for choosing the Vastar 60W 110V Adjustable Temperature Soldering Iron Kit. This kit is designed for various electronic soldering applications, offering adjustable temperature control for precision work. Please read this manual thoroughly before use to ensure safe and effective operation. Keep this manual for future reference.
Safety Precautions
Always prioritize safety when working with soldering equipment. Failure to follow these precautions may result in injury or damage to property.
- When the soldering iron is plugged in for the first time, a small amount of smoke may come from the tip end. This is normal and will stop shortly.
- Use the soldering stand and other aids to prevent burns.
- Do not pull the soldering iron tip outward or use it in a way that shortens the heating element's life.
- Avoid applying excessive solder unnecessarily.
- Ensure adequate ventilation in your workspace to avoid inhaling solder fumes.
- Always unplug the soldering iron when not in use or before changing tips.
- Keep out of reach of children.
Package Contents
Verify that all items listed below are included in your Vastar Soldering Iron Kit:
- 1 x Temperature Adjust Soldering Iron (60W, 110V)
- 5 x Soldering Iron Tips (various shapes)
- 1 x Soldering Stand
- 1 x Pocket Pack Solder (60/40, 0.031 inch, 0.71 oz. tube)
- 1 x Anti-static Tweezers
- 1 x Desoldering Pump

Setup
Follow these steps to set up your soldering iron kit for use:
- Prepare the Soldering Iron: Ensure the desired soldering tip is securely attached to the iron. The Vastar soldering iron features a steel-pipe design for efficient heat dissipation.
- Position the Soldering Stand: Place the soldering stand on a stable, heat-resistant surface. The stand is essential for safely resting the hot soldering iron when not actively in use.
- Connect to Power: Plug the soldering iron into a standard 110V AC outlet. The iron has a 59.0-inch (approximately 150 cm) cable length for flexible positioning.
- Adjust Temperature: Once plugged in, turn the temperature adjust dial to your desired setting. The temperature range is typically 200-450°C (392-842°F). Allow a few minutes for the iron to reach the set temperature.

Operating Instructions
Soldering
- Prepare the Workpiece: Ensure the components and circuit board pads are clean and free of oxidation.
- Heat the Joint: Touch the tip of the heated soldering iron to both the component lead and the circuit board pad simultaneously. Allow a second or two for the joint to heat up.
- Apply Solder: Feed a small amount of solder onto the heated joint, not directly onto the iron tip. The solder should flow smoothly and create a shiny, conical joint.
- Remove Solder and Iron: Remove the solder wire first, then lift the soldering iron from the joint. Avoid moving the component until the solder has solidified.
- Clean the Tip: Regularly wipe the soldering iron tip on a damp sponge or brass wool to keep it clean and tinned.

Desoldering with the Desoldering Pump
The desoldering pump is used to remove excess solder from a joint.
- Prepare the Pump: Press the operation button down until you hear a click, cocking the pump.
- Melt the Solder: Heat the solder joint with the soldering iron until the solder melts.
- Remove Solder: Quickly remove the soldering iron and immediately place the desoldering pump's nozzle over the molten solder. Press the rebound button to activate the vacuum, sucking up the molten solder.
- Repeat if Necessary: If all solder is not removed, repeat the process.

Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and performance of your soldering iron kit.
- Tip Cleaning: Always clean the soldering iron tip before and after use. Use a damp sponge or brass wool to remove any oxidation or excess solder. A clean, tinned tip ensures efficient heat transfer.
- Tip Replacement: To replace a tip, ensure the iron is unplugged and cooled. Unscrew the retaining nut, carefully remove the old tip, and insert a new one. Secure the retaining nut.
- Desoldering Pump Cleaning: Periodically disassemble the desoldering pump by rotating the removal buckle and clean out any accumulated solder from the nozzle and internal chamber.
- Storage: Store the soldering iron and accessories in a dry, safe place when not in use.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Vastar Soldering Iron Kit, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- Iron Not Heating:
- Check if the iron is properly plugged into a working outlet.
- Ensure the temperature dial is set to an appropriate temperature.
- Verify that the heating element is not damaged (unplug and inspect when cool).
- Solder Not Melting or Poor Joints:
- Increase the temperature setting on the dial.
- Clean and re-tin the soldering iron tip. A dirty or oxidized tip cannot transfer heat effectively.
- Ensure the components and pads are clean. Use flux if necessary.
- Desoldering Pump Not Sucking Solder:
- Ensure the pump is properly cocked before use.
- Check for blockages in the nozzle or internal chamber and clean if necessary.
- Ensure the solder is fully molten before attempting to suck it up.
