5. Installation
Follow these steps to install your EVL-4EZR module:
- Prepare Your Existing Alarm Panel:
- Before beginning, ensure the power to your existing alarm panel is completely disconnected.
- Carefully open your alarm panel enclosure.
- If you are replacing an existing communicator, make sure to label all wires before disconnecting them. If you are connecting to a panel for the first time, identify which wires correspond to which window/door sensors.
- Mount the EVL-4EZR Module:
- Use the provided standoffs and screws to securely mount the EVL-4EZR module inside your alarm panel enclosure. Ensure the module is not in direct contact with any metal surfaces to prevent short circuits.
- Connect Zone Wires:
- Connect the wires from your window and door sensors to the corresponding screw terminals on the EVL-4EZR module. There are two wires per sensor; one typically goes to a 'G' (ground) terminal, and the other to a numbered zone terminal (1-12). The order of the two wires for a single sensor does not typically matter.
- Use the provided small screwdriver to tighten the terminal screws.

Figure 4: Ensure all wiring is secure and correctly terminated for a reliable connection.
- Connect Piezo Buzzer (Optional):
- If using the included piezo buzzer for audible alerts, connect its two wires to the 'GND' and 'OUT1' terminals on the EVL-4EZR module.
- Network Connection:
- Ethernet: Connect an Ethernet cable from your router to the RJ45 port on the EVL-4EZR module.
- Wi-Fi: If using Wi-Fi, ensure your router is within range. You will configure Wi-Fi settings later via the Konnected app.
- Power the Module:
- Connect the 12V power brick to the module's power input.
- Alternatively, if your Ethernet network supports Power over Ethernet (PoE), you can power the module directly through the Ethernet cable, eliminating the need for the 12V power brick.

- Download & Configure the Konnected App:
- Download the Konnected Smart Home app from your device's app store (Google Play or iTunes Store).
- Open the app and follow the on-screen instructions to connect your new device. If using Wi-Fi, you will enter your network SSID and password.
- Register your device with the Konnected Cloud. If you don't have an account, you can create one during this step.
- Define each zone by entering the zone number, zone type (e.g., Door, Window, Motion), and a descriptive name.
- Sync the settings to your device. The module will reboot.

Figure 5: The Konnected app allows you to receive activity alerts and manage your zones.
- Integrate with Smart Home Platform (e.g., SmartThings):
- In your SmartThings app, use the '+' button to add a new device. Search for 'Konnected' in the device list, select 'Other', then 'Konnected'.
- Select a location and room for your Konnected devices.
- Once connected, you will see a success screen listing your zone names.
- Configure SmartThings Home Monitor by selecting the zones you wish to monitor for 'Arm (away)' and 'Arm (stay)' modes.
6. Operating

8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your EVL-4EZR module, consider the following:
- No Power: Check the 12V power brick connection or ensure your PoE switch/router is providing power if using Ethernet.
- No Network Connectivity: Verify your Ethernet cable connection or reconfigure Wi-Fi settings in the Konnected app. Ensure your router is functioning correctly.
- Sensor Not Reporting: Check the wiring for the specific zone. Ensure the sensor is correctly configured in the Konnected app and synced to the device.
- Alarm Not Sounding: Verify the piezo buzzer connection and ensure any automations or routines for audible alerts are correctly configured in your smart home platform.
- App Issues: Ensure your Konnected app is up to date. Try restarting the app or your smartphone.
- Incompatible Communicator (DSC/Honeywell): Some newer versions of alarm panel firmware (e.g., DSC 10.XX) may not be compatible. Refer to the EyezOn website for specific compatibility notes.
