5. Operation
5.1. Basic Printing
Once the printer is set up and drivers are installed, you can send print commands from your application software. Ensure the correct printer is selected in your software's print settings.
5.2. Feed Key Function
Pressing the 'Feed' key on the front panel will manually advance the paper by a small amount. This is useful for checking paper alignment or advancing paper after a print job.
6. Maintenance
6.1. Cleaning the Print Head
Regular cleaning of the thermal print head ensures optimal print quality and extends the printer's lifespan. Use a soft, lint-free cloth dampened with isopropyl alcohol to gently wipe the print head surface. Ensure the printer is turned off and cooled down before cleaning.
6.2. Paper Roll Replacement
When the paper roll is depleted, follow the steps outlined in Section 4.1 (Paper Roll Installation) to replace it with a new thermal paper roll of the correct specifications.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your EXCELVAN Hop E801 printer, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- Printer not powering on: Check if the power cable is securely connected to both the printer and the power outlet. Ensure the ON/OFF switch is in the 'ON' position.
- No printing: Verify that the printer is connected to your computer/network correctly (USB, Ethernet, or Serial). Check if the paper roll is installed properly and not depleted. Ensure the printer driver is correctly installed and selected in your application.
- Error Light is on: This indicates a printer error. Common causes include paper out, paper jam, or print head overheating. Check the paper compartment and ensure the cover is closed. Turn the printer off, wait a few moments, and turn it back on.
- Poor print quality: The thermal print head may be dirty. Refer to Section 6.1 for cleaning instructions. Ensure you are using high-quality thermal paper.
- Cutter issues: If the automatic cutter jams, turn off the printer, carefully open the paper cover, and remove any jammed paper. Refer to the warning label near the cutter for specific instructions on clearing jams.
- Driver installation issues on Windows 10: Some users report issues with unsigned drivers. You may need to temporarily disable driver signature enforcement in Windows 10 advanced startup options to complete the installation.
- Graphics not printing: While the product description states support for bitmap printing, some users have reported issues with graphics. Ensure your software is sending compatible graphic formats and that the printer's DIP switch settings are configured correctly for graphic printing if applicable.
For persistent issues, consult the detailed troubleshooting guide on the included CD or contact customer support.
