2. Setup
2.1 Unpacking
Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Verify that all items listed in your product's packing list are present and undamaged. Retain the packaging for future storage or shipping.
2.2 Connecting the USB Cable
- Locate the USB cable provided with your scanner.
- Connect the smaller end of the USB cable to the port at the base of the scanner handle.
- Connect the larger end of the USB cable to an available USB port on your host computer or point-of-sale (POS) system.
- The scanner will typically power on automatically and emit a startup beep, indicating it is ready for use.
2.3 Stand Assembly (Optional)
If your kit includes a stand, assemble it according to the separate instructions provided with the stand. The stand allows for hands-free operation in presentation mode.
3. Operating the Scanner
3.1 Basic Scanning Procedure
- Point the scanner's window at the barcode you wish to read.
- Press and hold the blue trigger button. A sharp, highly visible scan line will project from the scanner.
- Position the scan line across the entire barcode. Ensure the barcode is within the scanner's field of view.
- Once the barcode is successfully read, the scanner will emit a configurable "good read" beep and the LED indicator will illuminate green.
- Release the trigger button.
The QD2131 is optimized for reading 1D linear barcodes from various distances, thanks to its extended reading range and wide scan line.
3.2 Scan Modes
The scanner typically operates in trigger mode by default. If using the optional stand, the scanner may automatically switch to presentation mode, allowing it to detect and read barcodes without pressing the trigger button when placed in the stand. Refer to the programming guide for advanced configuration of scan modes.
4. Maintenance
4.1 Cleaning the Scanner
- Ensure the scanner is disconnected from its power source before cleaning.
- Use a soft, clean cloth lightly dampened with water or a mild, non-abrasive cleaning solution.
- Gently wipe the exterior casing and the scanner window.
- Do not use harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or immerse the scanner in any liquid.
Regular cleaning helps maintain optimal scanning performance and extends the life of the device.
5. Troubleshooting
- Scanner Not Powering On:
Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the scanner and the host computer. Verify the USB port on the computer is functional.
- Scanner Not Reading Barcodes:
- Check that the scan line is properly positioned across the entire barcode.
- Ensure the barcode is not damaged or poorly printed.
- Verify that the barcode symbology is enabled in the scanner's configuration (refer to the full programming guide for details).
- Clean the scanner window for any obstructions or smudges.
- Incorrect Data Transmission:
If the scanner reads barcodes but transmits incorrect data, the scanner's output format may need to be configured. Consult the programming guide for specific settings related to data formatting.
- No "Good Read" Beep/LED:
This indicates a barcode was not successfully read. Follow the steps for "Scanner Not Reading Barcodes." Also, check if the beeper and LED indicators are enabled in the scanner's configuration.
