3.1 Controls and Display

- Power Button: Turns the radio on or off.
- Mode Button: Switches between DAB+ and FM radio modes.

4. Setup
4.1 Powering the Unit
The Denver DAB-35 can be powered either by an AC adapter or by batteries for portable use.
- AC Power: Connect the AC power adapter (not always included) to the DC IN jack on the rear of the radio and plug it into a wall outlet.
- Battery Power: For portable use, insert 4 x AA batteries (not included) into the battery compartment located on the bottom of the unit. Ensure correct polarity (+/-).

4.2 Antenna Adjustment
Extend the telescopic antenna fully for the best possible radio signal reception, especially in DAB+ mode. Adjust its position for optimal clarity.
4.3 Initial Scan (DAB+ Mode)
Upon first power-on or after a factory reset, the radio will automatically perform a full scan for available DAB+ stations. This process may take a few minutes. Once complete, the radio will store all found stations and tune to the first station in the list.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Power On/Off
Press the Power button to turn the radio on or off.
5.2 Mode Selection
Press the Mode button to switch between DAB+ and FM radio modes.
5.3 DAB+ Radio Operation
- Station Selection: In DAB+ mode, use the Up/Down buttons to scroll through the list of available stations. Press Select to tune to the desired station.
- Full Scan: To perform a new scan for DAB+ stations, press the Menu button, navigate to 'Full Scan' (or similar option), and press Select.
- Information Display: Press the Info button repeatedly to cycle through various information such as program type, signal strength, date, time, and bit rate.
5.4 FM Radio Operation
- Automatic Tuning: In FM mode, press and hold the Up/Down buttons to automatically scan for the next available station.
- Manual Tuning: Briefly press the Up/Down buttons to manually adjust the frequency in small increments.
- Information Display (RDS): If the FM station broadcasts RDS (Radio Data System) information, press the Info button to view details like station name, program type, and text messages.
5.5 Volume Control
Rotate the Volume knob clockwise to increase the volume and counter-clockwise to decrease it.
5.6 Preset Stations
- Saving a Preset: Tune to the desired station. Press and hold the Preset button until 'Preset Store' (or similar) appears on the display. Use the Up/Down buttons to select a preset number (e.g., P1-P10) and press Select to save.
- Recalling a Preset: Briefly press the Preset button. Use the Up/Down buttons to select the desired preset number and press Select to tune to it.
5.7 Alarm Function
Press the Alarm button to access the alarm settings. Use the Menu and Up/Down buttons to set the alarm time, source (buzzer/radio), and volume. Press Select to confirm. When the alarm sounds, press Snooze to temporarily pause it, or press the Power button to turn it off.
5.8 Sleep Function
Press the Menu button, navigate to 'Sleep' (or similar option), and press Select. Use the Up/Down buttons to set a sleep timer (e.g., 15, 30, 60 minutes). The radio will automatically turn off after the set time.
5.9 Headphone Use
Plug standard 3.5mm headphones into the headphone jack on the rear of the unit for private listening. The internal speaker will automatically mute.
6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the radio with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Battery Replacement: If using batteries, replace all four AA batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the display or when performance degrades. Ensure proper polarity.
- Storage: If storing the radio for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
7. Troubleshooting
- No Power:
- Ensure the AC adapter is securely connected to both the radio and a working power outlet.
- If using batteries, check that they are inserted correctly and are not depleted. Replace if necessary.
- No Sound:
- Check the volume level and increase it if too low.
- Ensure headphones are not plugged in, or if they are, check their connection and volume.
- Verify that the radio is tuned to an active station.
- Poor Reception (DAB+/FM):
- Fully extend and adjust the telescopic antenna.
- Relocate the radio to a different position, away from potential interference sources (e.g., other electronic devices, thick walls).
- For DAB+, perform a full scan to update the station list.
- No DAB+ Stations Found:
- Ensure you are in an area with DAB+ coverage. Coverage can vary by region.
- Perform a full scan for DAB+ stations.
- Check the antenna position.
