4. Setup and Installation

4.1 Unpacking

Carefully remove all packaging materials. Inspect the unit for any shipping damage. Retain packaging for future transport if needed.

4.2 Location Requirements

  • Place the ice machine on a firm, level surface capable of supporting its weight when full of ice and water.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation. The front-breathing design allows for freestanding or built-in applications, but proper airflow around the unit is crucial.
  • Avoid direct sunlight or heat sources. Maintain an ambient temperature between 50°F (10°C) and 90°F (32°C).

4.3 Electrical Connection

The ice machine requires a dedicated 115V electrical connection. Use the provided 6-foot NEMA 5-15P cord and plug it into a grounded outlet. Do not use extension cords.

4.4 Water Supply Connection

Connect the ice machine to a potable cold water supply using the provided tubing. A water filter system is recommended for optimal performance and ice quality.

4.5 Drain Line Connection

This ice machine requires a gravity drain line for operation. Connect the provided drain hose to the unit and route it to an appropriate floor drain or standpipe, ensuring a continuous downward slope for proper drainage.

4.6 Door Reversal (Optional)

The door is field reversible, allowing it to open from either the left or right side. Refer to the detailed instructions in the separate installation guide for door reversal procedures.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Initial Startup

  1. After installation, ensure all connections are secure and the power cord is plugged in.
  2. Turn on the water supply valve.
  3. Power on the ice machine using the control panel.
  4. Allow several hours for the unit to reach optimal operating temperature and begin ice production. The first few batches of ice may be smaller or irregular.

5.2 Ice Production

The MIM50V produces full dice ice cubes. The machine will automatically produce ice until the storage bin is full, then pause until ice is removed.

5.3 Ice Storage

The self-contained storage bin has a capacity of 25 pounds. The bin is removable for easy access and cleaning. Use the provided ice scoop to retrieve ice.

5.4 Self-Cleaning Mode

The unit features a self-cleaning mode. Refer to the control panel instructions for initiating this cycle. Regular use of the self-cleaning mode helps maintain hygiene and efficiency.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

6.1 Regular Cleaning

  • Exterior: Wipe the exterior surfaces with a soft cloth and mild detergent.
  • Interior and Ice Bin: Regularly clean the interior of the ice storage bin and the removable ice bin with a solution of mild soap and water. Rinse thoroughly.
  • Condenser: Periodically clean the condenser coils to ensure efficient operation. Disconnect power before cleaning.

6.2 Self-Cleaning Cycle

Utilize the self-cleaning mode as recommended in the operating instructions. This cycle helps to descale and sanitize the internal water system.

6.3 Water Filter Replacement

If a water filter system is installed, replace the filter cartridge according to the manufacturer's recommendations to maintain ice quality and prevent mineral buildup.
