Key features include:
- T8 LED Tube Single Sided Ballast Bypass Type B: Designed for direct wiring, eliminating the need for a ballast.
- Bright Illumination: Provides 2200 lumens of 5000K Daylight light, enhancing visibility in garages, workshops, basements, and offices.
- Commercial Grade & UL Certified: Each product is tested for optimal performance and safety, ensuring reliability.
- Long Lifespan: Engineered for extended operational life, reducing replacement frequency.
- Flicker-Free Lighting: Experience stable and comfortable illumination without noticeable flickering.
- Wide Beam Angle: A 160-degree beam angle ensures uniform light distribution across the illuminated area.
2. Safety Information
WARNING: Prior to installing Type B tubes, all existing ballasts must be removed and the fixture rewired accordingly. Failure to do so may damage the lighting tube and create a serious fire hazard. Always ensure power is disconnected at the circuit breaker before beginning any electrical work.
- Always turn off power at the circuit breaker before installation, removal, or maintenance.
- Ensure proper grounding of the fixture.
- Do not use with dimmers unless explicitly stated as dimmable. These bulbs are non-dimmable.
- Handle glass tubes with care to prevent breakage.
- Consult a qualified electrician if you are unsure about any part of the installation process.
3. Installation
These Type B LED tubes require direct wiring to the main power supply, bypassing the existing ballast. This process improves electrical safety, eliminates power loss, and reduces future maintenance needs.
3.1 Ballast Bypass Wiring
- Disconnect Power: Turn off the power to the fixture at the circuit breaker. Verify power is off using a voltage tester.
- Remove Old Fluorescent Tubes and Ballast: Carefully remove the existing fluorescent tubes. Open the fixture to access the ballast. Disconnect all wires leading to and from the ballast. Remove the ballast from the fixture.
- Rewire the Fixture:
For single-ended power (SEP) tubes, power is supplied to one end of the tube only. Connect the Live (L) wire from your main power supply to one pin on one end of the fixture's tombstone (lamp holder), and the Neutral (N) wire to the other pin on the same end. The other end of the fixture's tombstone should remain unwired or connected to the same Live/Neutral if using a non-shunted tombstone.
Figure 3.1: Ballast bypass wiring diagram. L = Live, N = Neutral.
Ensure all connections are secure using wire nuts or appropriate connectors. Neatly organize wires and replace the ballast cover if applicable.
- Install LED Tubes: Insert the Sunco T8 LED tubes into the lamp holders. Ensure the powered end of the tube aligns with the wired end of the fixture's tombstone.
- Restore Power: Turn the power back on at the circuit breaker. The LED tubes should illuminate instantly.
3.2 Single-Ended vs. Double-Ended Connection
Sunco T8 LED tubes are designed for single-ended power (SEP). This means electricity is supplied to the pins on one end of the tube only. For single-ended installation, non-shunted tombstones are typically required. If your fixture has shunted tombstones (where both pins on one end are internally connected), you may need to replace them with non-shunted ones or ensure proper wiring for double-ended compatibility if the tube supports it. These specific tubes are Single Ended Power (SEP).

4. Operation
Once properly installed and powered, your Sunco T8 LED bulbs will provide instant, bright illumination. There is no warm-up time required, unlike traditional fluorescent bulbs.

4.1 Flicker-Free Experience
These LED tubes are engineered to provide flicker-free lighting, enhancing visual comfort and reducing eye strain, which is common with older fluorescent technologies.

4.2 Wide Beam Angle
The bulbs feature a wide 160-degree beam angle, ensuring that light is distributed uniformly across the entire area, minimizing dark spots and maximizing illumination efficiency.

5. Maintenance
Sunco T8 LED bulbs are designed for minimal maintenance. Due to their long lifespan of approximately 50,000 hours, frequent replacements are not necessary. Keep the tubes clean by gently wiping them with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the clear lens.

6. Troubleshooting
- Bulb Not Lighting Up:
- Ensure power is supplied to the fixture and the circuit breaker is ON.
- Verify that the ballast has been completely removed and the fixture is correctly rewired for direct power.
- Check that the LED tube's powered end is correctly inserted into the wired tombstone.
- Inspect wiring connections for looseness or damage.
- Flickering Bulb:
- Confirm that the ballast has been fully bypassed. Residual ballast components can cause flickering.
- Ensure stable power supply.
- If using multiple bulbs in a fixture, ensure all are properly installed and wired.
- Reduced Brightness:
- Check for dust or debris on the tube surface and clean gently.
- Verify the power supply voltage is within the specified range (100-240 Volts).
- Tube Damage:
- If the tube appears physically damaged, discontinue use and replace it.
- Ensure proper handling during installation to prevent damage.
