1. Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the proper installation, operation, and maintenance of the Notifier FMM-101 Addressable Monitor Module. Adherence to these instructions is crucial for the safe and effective functioning of the device within a compatible fire alarm system. Please read this manual thoroughly before proceeding with any procedures.
2. Product Overview
The Notifier FMM-101 is an addressable monitor module designed for use with Notifier intelligent fire alarm control panels. It allows for the monitoring of a normally open contact device, such as a waterflow switch or supervisory switch, within the fire alarm system. The module communicates the status of the monitored device to the control panel.

3. Safety Information
Observe the following safety precautions during installation, operation, and maintenance of the FMM-101 module:
- FOR INDOOR/DRY APPLICATIONS ONLY: This device is not rated for outdoor or wet environments. Exposure to moisture can cause damage and compromise functionality.
- ALL CIRCUITS ARE POWER LIMITED: Ensure that all connected circuits adhere to power-limited specifications to prevent electrical hazards.
- Qualified Personnel: Installation and servicing should only be performed by qualified and authorized personnel.
- Power Disconnection: Always disconnect power to the fire alarm control panel before installing, servicing, or removing the module.
- Local Codes: Installation must comply with all applicable local and national electrical and fire codes.

Figure 3.1: A close-up view of the product label on the Notifier FMM-101 module. The label specifies 'MODEL NO. FMM-101 MONITOR MODULE', 'FOR INDOOR/DRY APPLICATIONS ONLY', 'ALL CIRCUITS ARE POWER LIMITED', and references installation instructions 'SEE 166-3608 REV. 001'. It also includes UL listing and U.S. Patent information.
4. Setup and Installation
The FMM-101 module is designed for easy installation and integration into your fire alarm system. Refer to Notifier Document 166-3608 REV. 001 for detailed installation instructions specific to your system configuration.
4.1 Mounting
The module can be installed in a standard single-gang junction box directly behind the monitored device. Ensure adequate space for wiring and proper ventilation.
4.2 Wiring
Connect the module to the Signaling Line Circuit (SLC) of the fire alarm control panel and to the monitored device according to the wiring diagrams provided in the Notifier installation instructions (Document 166-3608 REV. 001). The module typically requires 32VDC and draws 600uA from the SLC.

Figure 4.1: A detailed view of the wiring terminals and the rotary address switches on the Notifier FMM-101 module. Multiple colored wires (red, black, yellow, purple) are connected to the terminals, and a white rotary switch with numerical markings (0-9) is visible for setting the device address.
4.3 Addressing
Each FMM-101 module requires a unique address on the SLC. Set the address using the rotary switches located on the module. Consult the fire alarm control panel's manual for available address ranges and proper addressing procedures.
5. Operation
Once properly installed and addressed, the FMM-101 module continuously monitors the status of the connected device. When the monitored device changes state (e.g., a waterflow switch activates), the module transmits this information to the fire alarm control panel. The control panel then processes this signal according to its programming, which may include activating alarms, initiating notification appliances, or sending signals to a central monitoring station.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the continued reliability of the FMM-101 module and the overall fire alarm system.
- Visual Inspection: Periodically inspect the module for any signs of physical damage, corrosion, or loose connections.
- Functional Testing: Conduct routine functional tests of the monitored device and the FMM-101 module as per local codes and manufacturer recommendations for the fire alarm system. This typically involves activating the monitored device to verify that the module correctly reports its status to the control panel.
- Cleaning: Keep the module free from dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
7. Troubleshooting
If the FMM-101 module or the connected device is not functioning as expected, consider the following:
- No Communication/Fault: Check wiring connections for proper termination and continuity. Verify the module's address setting matches the control panel programming. Ensure the SLC is properly powered.
- Incorrect Status: Confirm the monitored device is functioning correctly. Check for any short circuits or open circuits in the wiring to the monitored device.
- System Errors: Consult the fire alarm control panel's manual for specific error codes and troubleshooting steps related to addressable modules.
