Setup Guide

1. Unboxing and Initial Inspection

Carefully remove your Surface Pro 4 and its accessories from the packaging. Ensure all components are present, including the Surface Pro 4 device and the Surface Pen. The Type Cover keyboard is typically sold separately.

2. Powering On and Initial Configuration

  1. Connect Power: Plug the power adapter into the charging port on your Surface Pro 4 and then into a wall outlet.
  2. Power On: Press the power button located on the top edge of the device.

3. Attaching the Type Cover (Sold Separately)

To use your Surface Pro 4 as a laptop, align the magnetic connector of the Type Cover with the bottom edge of the Surface Pro 4. The magnets will snap it into place. The Type Cover also serves as a screen protector when closed.

4. Setting up the Surface Pen

The Surface Pen is included with your device. It typically comes with a battery pre-installed or requires a AAAA battery. Follow the on-screen prompts or refer to the separate Surface Pen guide for pairing instructions via Bluetooth.

Operating Your Surface Pro 4

Using as a Tablet

Using the Surface Pen

Using as a Laptop

Extend the multi-position Kickstand on the back of the Surface Pro 4 to prop it up. Attach the Type Cover to transform it into a laptop. The Kickstand allows for various viewing angles.
