Setup
Charging the Batteries
The Dogtra 280C system uses Lithium Polymer batteries in both the transmitter and receiver. Before first use, fully charge both units for approximately 2 hours. A full charge typically lasts several days depending on usage.
- Connect the splitter cable to the charger.
- Plug the two ends of the splitter cable into the charging ports on the transmitter and receiver.
- Plug the charger into a standard electrical outlet.
- The LED indicator on both units will glow red during charging and turn green when fully charged.
Fitting the Receiver Collar
Proper fit of the receiver collar is crucial for consistent and effective operation. The contact points must have direct contact with the dog's skin.
- Position the receiver on the dog's neck, directly below the ears, on the underside of the neck.
- The contact points should be centered and touching the skin.
- Adjust the strap so it is snug, allowing only one finger to fit between the strap and the dog's neck. The collar should not be too loose, as this can cause inconsistent contact and irritation.
- For dogs with thick coats, you may need to trim some fur around the contact points to ensure proper skin contact.
