Introduction

The NOCO Boost GB20 is a compact, yet powerful 500-amp lithium jump starter designed to safely jump start a dead car battery in seconds. This portable car battery jump starter delivers up to 20 jump starts on a single charge and is rated for gasoline engines up to 4.0 liters. It is engineered with UltraSafe Technology, featuring spark-proof connections and reverse polarity protection, ensuring safe and mistake-proof operation for any 12-volt vehicle. The GB20 also functions as a portable USB-C power bank for charging smartphones, tablets, and other devices, and includes an integrated 100-lumen LED flashlight with seven light modes, including SOS and emergency strobe. Its rugged design, IP65-rated enclosure, and rubberized over-molded casing make it durable against water, dust, drops, and rough handling.

LED Indicators:

  • Power LED: Illuminates white when the unit is ON.
  • Error LED: Blinks "on" and "off" in various sequences (from 1 to 6 blinks) to convey error conditions.
  • Charge LEDs: Indicate the charge level of the internal battery.
  • Boost LED: Illuminates white when Boost is active. The LED flashes white when the manual override feature is active.

Setup

Initial Charging

Before first use, fully charge the GB20. Connect the included USB-C charging cable to the GB20's USB-C IN port and plug the other end into a USB wall adapter (not included) or a powered USB port. The Charge LEDs will illuminate to indicate charging status. All four Charge LEDs will be solid when fully charged.

The GB20 recharges in approximately 3 hours.

Connecting Clamps

Ensure the GB20 is turned OFF before connecting the clamps to the unit. The heavy-duty clamps connect to the 12V OUT port on the GB20. Ensure a secure connection.

Operating Instructions

Jump Starting a Vehicle

  1. Attach Clamps: Connect the red (positive) clamp to the positive (+) battery terminal and the black (negative) clamp to the negative (-) battery terminal or a chassis ground point.
  2. Power On: Press the Power Button on the GB20. The Power LED will illuminate white.
  3. Start Vehicle: Attempt to start your vehicle. If the vehicle does not start, wait 30 seconds and try again.
  4. Power Off: Once the vehicle starts, disconnect the clamps from the battery, then turn off the GB20.

If the battery is completely dead and the GB20 does not detect it, you may need to use the Manual Override feature. Press and hold the Manual Override Button for three seconds until the Boost LED flashes white. This mode bypasses safety checks and provides maximum power. Use with extreme caution.

Using as a Portable Power Bank

The GB20 features a USB-A OUT port (2.1A) for charging smartphones, tablets, and other USB-powered devices. Simply connect your device's USB charging cable to the GB20's USB-A OUT port.

Using the LED Flashlight

The integrated 100-lumen LED flashlight has seven light modes:

  • 100% Brightness
  • 50% Brightness
  • 10% Brightness
  • SOS
  • Blink
  • Strobe
  • Off

Press the Light Mode Button to cycle through the different modes. This feature is ideal for night use, roadside visibility, or emergencies.

Maintenance

Charging

For optimal performance and longevity, keep the GB20 charged. It is recommended to recharge the unit after each use and at least every 3-6 months, even if not used, to maintain battery health.

Storage

Store the GB20 in its microfiber storage bag in a cool, dry place. Avoid extreme temperatures and direct sunlight. Ensure the unit is fully charged before long-term storage.

Cleaning

Clean the unit with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials. Keep the ports free from dust and debris.

Troubleshooting
