3. Setup and Initial Unlock
Before using your datAshur PRO, you must unlock it using your personal identification number (PIN).
3.1 Unlocking the Drive
- Press the KEY button once. The red light will blink.
- While the red light blinks, enter your 7-15 digit user PIN.
- Press the KEY button again to confirm.
- The light will change from blinking red to solid green, indicating the drive is unlocked.
3.2 Connecting to a Device
Once unlocked, insert the datAshur PRO drive into an available USB port on your computer or compatible device. The drive will be recognized automatically.

4. Operating Instructions: Data Transfer
After successfully unlocking and connecting your datAshur PRO, you can transfer files to and from the drive just like any other USB storage device.
4.1 Storing Encrypted Files
- Open the USB drive folder on your computer (e.g., 'This PC' on Windows).
- Select the files you wish to encrypt from your local storage.
- Copy and paste, or drag and drop the selected files into the datAshur PRO drive folder.
- The files will be automatically encrypted as they are transferred to the drive.
4.2 Safely Ejecting the Drive
To ensure data integrity and security, always safely eject the drive before physically removing it from your device.
- Locate the 'Safely Remove Hardware' icon in your system tray (Windows) or drag the drive icon to the Trash/Eject (macOS).
- Select the datAshur PRO drive for ejection.
- Once prompted that it is safe to remove, disconnect the drive. The drive will automatically lock, and your data will be securely encrypted.
5. Maintenance
The datAshur PRO is designed for durability and is IP57 certified, making it dust and water resistant. To maintain its performance and longevity:
- Keep the protective cap on when not in use to prevent dust and moisture ingress.
- Avoid exposing the drive to extreme temperatures or harsh chemicals.
- Clean the keypad and casing with a soft, dry cloth if necessary.
6. Troubleshooting
6.1 Incorrect PIN Entry
The datAshur PRO is programmed to protect against brute-force attacks. If the user PIN is entered incorrectly 10 consecutive times, the user PIN will be deleted. Your data will remain on the device, but you will only be able to access it by entering the administrator PIN.
6.2 Data Loss Prevention
If the administrator PIN is entered incorrectly 10 consecutive times, the PIN, encryption key, and all data on the drive will be permanently lost. The device will revert to factory default settings and will require reformatting before further use. It is crucial to remember your PINs and consider backing up critical data.
