3. Setup
3.1 Attaching the Antenna
- Align the antenna's threaded end with the antenna connector on top of the radio.
- Gently screw the antenna clockwise until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.
3.2 Installing the Battery
- Ensure the radio is powered off.
- Align the battery pack with the grooves on the back of the radio.
- Slide the battery upwards until it clicks securely into place.
3.3 Charging the Battery
Before initial use, fully charge the battery. The radio can be charged by placing it in the provided CH-8 desktop charger.
- Connect the CH-8 110V AC Adapter to the CH-8 Charger Base.
- Plug the AC adapter into a standard wall outlet.
- Place the radio (with battery installed) into the charger base. The charger indicator light will typically show red while charging and turn green when fully charged.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Power On/Off and Volume Control
To power on the radio, rotate the volume knob (located on the top of the radio) clockwise. Continue rotating to increase the volume. Rotate counter-clockwise to decrease volume and power off the radio.
4.2 Frequency/Channel Mode
The UV-82HP supports both Frequency Mode (VFO) and Channel Mode (MR). Use the VFO/MR button to switch between these modes. In Channel Mode, you can navigate through stored channels using the UP/DOWN arrow keys. In Frequency Mode, you can directly input frequencies using the keypad.
4.3 Push-to-Talk (PTT) Button
The PTT button is located on the left side of the radio. Press and hold this button to transmit, and release it to receive. The UV-82HP features a unique dual PTT button, allowing for easy switching between two active frequencies.
