Setup

1. Physical Connections

Before connecting, ensure all devices are powered off.

  1. Connect to TV: Use the included HDMI cable to connect the HDMI OUT port on the player to an HDMI IN port on your television.
  2. Power Connection: Connect the power cord to the player and then to a wall outlet.
  3. Optional Audio Connection: For advanced audio setups, connect the Coaxial Digital Audio Out port to a compatible audio receiver.
  4. Optional Wired Network: If not using Wi-Fi, connect an Ethernet cable from the LAN port on the player to your router.

2. Initial Power On and Basic Settings

  1. Power on your TV and select the correct HDMI input.
  2. Press the Power button on the player or remote control.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions for initial setup, including language selection and display settings.

3. Network Setup (Wi-Fi)

To access streaming services and online features, connect the player to your home network.

  1. From the Home menu, navigate to Setup > Network Settings.
  2. Select Wi-Fi Setup.
  3. Choose your wireless network from the list and enter the network password (WPA/WPA2 key).
  4. Confirm the settings to establish the connection.

4. Region Settings for Discs

The player is pre-configured for multi-region playback. For specific region B Blu-ray discs that may not play automatically, a manual adjustment might be required.

  • For DVDs: The player automatically detects and plays DVDs from regions 0-6 (PAL/NTSC).
  • For Blu-ray Discs: The player supports regions A, B, and C. If a Region B Blu-ray disc fails to load, power off the player. With the power off, press and hold the BLUE button on the remote control. The player will power on in full Region B mode. Insert the disc.

Operating Instructions

1. Playing Discs

  1. Press the OPEN/CLOSE button on the player or remote to open the disc tray.
  2. Place a Blu-ray or DVD disc gently onto the tray with the label side facing up.
  3. Press the OPEN/CLOSE button again to close the tray. The player will automatically begin playback or display the disc menu.
  4. Use the navigation buttons (Up, Down, Left, Right) and ENTER button on the remote to navigate disc menus.
  5. Use PLAY, PAUSE, STOP, FAST FORWARD, and REWIND buttons for playback control.

2. Accessing Streaming Services

Ensure the player is connected to the internet via Wi-Fi or Ethernet.

  1. From the Home menu, navigate to the Network or Video section.
  2. Select the desired streaming application (e.g., Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Instant Video).
  3. Log in with your account credentials if prompted.
  4. Browse and select content for playback.

3. Screen Mirroring (Miracast)

Miracast allows you to display content from a compatible smartphone or tablet on your TV via the Blu-ray player.

  1. On the Blu-ray player, navigate to the Screen Mirroring option in the Home menu.
  2. On your smartphone or tablet, enable the screen mirroring feature (often found in display settings, sometimes called "Wireless Display," "Cast," or "Smart View").
  3. Select the Sony BDP-S3200 from the list of available devices on your mobile device.
  4. The mobile device's screen will now be mirrored on your TV.

4. DLNA Playback

DLNA allows you to stream media files (photos, music, videos) from a DLNA-compatible PC or network-attached storage (NAS) device to your player.

  1. Ensure your PC/NAS and the Blu-ray player are on the same network.
  2. Enable DLNA sharing on your PC or NAS device.
  3. On the Blu-ray player, navigate to the Video, Music, or Photo section in the Home menu and select DLNA.
  4. Browse for your shared media content and select to play.

5. USB Playback

The player supports playback of media files from a USB storage device.

  1. Insert a USB storage device into the USB port on the front of the player.
  2. The player should automatically detect the device and prompt you to select the type of media (Video, Music, Photo).
  3. Navigate through the folders and files to select your desired content.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning the Unit: Wipe the exterior of the player with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents.
  • Cleaning Discs: Handle discs by their edges. If a disc is dirty, wipe it gently with a soft, dry cloth from the center outwards. Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners.
  • Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation around the player. Do not block ventilation openings.
  • Firmware Updates: Periodically check for firmware updates via the player's network settings to ensure optimal performance and compatibility.

Troubleshooting

No Power

  • Ensure the power cord is securely connected to both the player and a working wall outlet.
  • Try plugging another device into the same outlet to confirm it has power.

No Picture or Sound

  • Verify the HDMI cable is securely connected to both the player and the TV.
  • Ensure your TV is set to the correct HDMI input source.
  • Check the audio settings on your TV and any connected audio receiver.

Disc Will Not Play or Region Error

  • Ensure the disc is clean and free of scratches.
  • Verify the disc type (Blu-ray, DVD) is supported by the player.
  • For Region B Blu-ray discs, refer to the "Region Settings for Discs" section in Setup for manual adjustment using the remote's blue button.

Cannot Connect to Wi-Fi

  • Ensure your Wi-Fi router is powered on and functioning correctly.
  • Double-check the Wi-Fi password (WPA/WPA2 key).
  • Move the player closer to the router or reduce interference from other electronic devices.
  • Try restarting both the player and your Wi-Fi router.

Remote Control Not Working

  • Check and replace the batteries in the remote control.
  • Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote and the player's IR sensor.
