Setup
1. Unpacking and Inspection
Carefully remove the RCI-2995DXCF from its packaging. Inspect the unit for any signs of damage that may have occurred during transit. Retain the original packaging for future transport or storage.
2. Power Connection
The unit features a built-in AC power supply. Connect the supplied AC power cord to the rear panel's AC input and then to a standard 120V AC outlet. Ensure the power switch on the front panel is in the OFF position before connecting to power.
3. Antenna Connection
Connect a suitable 10 or 12 meter band antenna to the antenna connector on the rear panel. Use a high-quality coaxial cable with appropriate connectors. Ensure the antenna system is properly tuned for optimal performance and to prevent damage to the unit.
4. External Speaker/Microphone (Optional)
If desired, connect an external speaker to the external speaker jack and a microphone to the microphone input on the front panel. Refer to the microphone's specifications for compatibility.
Operating Instructions
1. Power On/Off
To power on the unit, press the POWER switch located on the front panel. The display will illuminate. To power off, press the switch again.
2. Mode Selection
Select the desired operating mode (AM, CW, FM, SSB) using the MODE selector switch. Each mode has specific characteristics for transmission and reception.
3. Frequency Selection
Frequencies can be selected using three methods:
- Front Panel Frequency Selector: Use the main tuning knob to adjust the frequency.
- Non-Volatile Memory: Store and recall up to ten favorite frequencies. Refer to the programming section for details on storing frequencies.
- Scanning: The unit supports scanning of selected frequency segments or stored frequencies. Activate the scanner function via the front panel controls.
4. Clarifier Adjustment
Use the CLARIFIER control to fine-tune the receiver frequency by ±0.5kHz for optimal reception, especially under difficult signal conditions.
5. Power Output Adjustment
Adjust the variable output power control to set the desired transmission power level. The dual panel meters will display the current transmitter power output.
6. Noise Blanker/ANL
Engage the Noise Blanker (NB) and Automatic Noise Limiter (ANL) circuitry to reduce impulse noise and improve signal clarity.
Maintenance
1. Cleaning
Regularly clean the exterior of the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents, as they may damage the finish or internal components.
2. Cooling Fan
The RCI-2995DXCF includes a built-in cooling fan. Ensure that the ventilation openings on the unit are not obstructed to allow for proper airflow. Periodically check for dust accumulation around the fan and vents and clean as necessary using compressed air.
3. Environmental Conditions
Operate the unit in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight, excessive heat, humidity, or dust. These conditions can affect the unit's performance and lifespan.
