This manual provides essential instructions for the safe and efficient operation of your AudioSonic CD-156 Stereo Radio. Control Panel Features:

  • Display: Shows track number, radio frequency, and mode.
  • STOP Button: Stops CD or USB playback.

Setup

1. Power Connection

Your AudioSonic CD-156 can be powered by either AC electricity or batteries.

AC Power:

  1. Ensure the unit's power switch is in the OFF position.
  2. Connect the AC power cord to the AC input jack on the back of the unit.
  3. Plug the other end of the AC power cord into a standard 230V AC wall outlet.

Battery Power:

For portable use, the unit requires batteries (not included).

  1. Ensure the unit's power switch is in the OFF position.
  2. Open the battery compartment cover located on the bottom or back of the unit.
  3. Insert the required number and type of batteries (refer to the battery compartment for specifications, typically C-size batteries) ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

2. Antenna Adjustment

For optimal FM radio reception, fully extend the telescopic antenna. Adjust its position and direction to achieve the clearest signal.

Operating Instructions

1. General Operation

  1. Power On/Off: Slide the ON/OFF switch to the 'ON' position to power on the unit. Slide to 'OFF' to power off.
  2. Volume Control: Rotate the volume knob to increase or decrease the audio output level.

2. CD Playback

  1. Ensure the unit is powered on.
  2. Gently open the CD compartment lid.
  3. Place an audio CD (CD-DA format) onto the spindle with the label side facing up.
  4. Close the CD compartment lid securely. The display will show "CD" and then the total number of tracks.
  5. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button to start playback. The track number will be displayed.
  6. Press PLAY/PAUSE again to pause playback. Press it once more to resume.
  7. Press SKIP UP to go to the next track. Press SKIP DN to go to the beginning of the current track, or press twice to go to the previous track.
  8. Press the STOP button to stop CD playback.
  9. Repeat Function: During playback, press the REPEAT button once to repeat the current track. Press it again to repeat all tracks. Press a third time to cancel the repeat function.
  10. Program Function: To program tracks, press the PROG button while the CD is stopped. Use SKIP UP/DN to select a track, then press PROG to confirm. Repeat for up to 20 tracks. Press PLAY/PAUSE to start programmed playback.

3. USB Playback (MP3)

  1. Ensure the unit is powered on.
  2. Insert a USB flash drive containing MP3 audio files into the USB port on the front of the unit.
  3. The unit should automatically switch to USB mode and begin playing the first MP3 file. If not, you may need to press a 'Mode' or 'Function' button (if available, otherwise it should auto-detect).
  4. Use the PLAY/PAUSE, STOP, SKIP UP, SKIP DN, and REPEAT buttons as described for CD playback to control your MP3 files.
  5. Note: The unit supports MP3 format. Other audio formats may not be compatible.

4. FM Radio Operation

  1. Ensure the unit is powered on.
  2. Extend the FM telescopic antenna fully.
  3. Rotate the Tuning Knob on the side of the unit to select your desired FM radio station.
  4. Adjust the antenna position for the best possible reception.

5. LED Light Effects

The AudioSonic CD-156 features 6 colored LED lights integrated into the speakers. These lights automatically activate and move in rhythm with the music being played from CD, USB, or FM radio, enhancing the listening experience.

Maintenance

Cleaning the Unit:

  • Wipe the exterior of the unit with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents as they may damage the finish.
  • Ensure the unit is unplugged from the power source before cleaning.

CD Care:

  • Handle CDs by their edges to avoid fingerprints on the playing surface.
  • Keep CDs in their cases when not in use to prevent scratches.
  • Clean dirty CDs with a soft, lint-free cloth, wiping from the center outwards.

USB Drive Care:

  • Always remove the USB drive carefully from the port to prevent damage.
  • Avoid exposing USB drives to extreme temperatures or moisture.
