4. Application Modes
The VAP11G-300 supports three primary application modes to suit various networking needs.
Figure 4: Application Mode Introduction.
4.1. AP Mode (Access Point)
In AP Mode, the device converts a wired network connection into a wireless access point. This is suitable for scenarios where an Ethernet cable provides internet access to a computer without requiring dialing, allowing multiple wireless devices to connect.
4.2. Repeater Mode
Repeater Mode extends the coverage of an existing WiFi network, simplifying network expansion. It can also convert a WiFi signal to an RJ45 network connection, enabling a wired device (like a desktop PC) to access the internet wirelessly.
4.3. Bridge Mode
In Bridge Mode, the VAP11G-300 acts as a transparent bridge, allowing wired devices to connect to a wireless network. This mode supports both IP and MAC level transparent transmission, making it ideal for devices that lack built-in WiFi capabilities.

5. Setup Instructions
Follow these steps to configure your VAP11G-300 device.
Figure 6: Cable configuration guide and setup steps.
Step 1: Initial Connection
- Disable the wireless card on your computer.
- Connect the VAP11G-300 to your computer using an Ethernet cable.
- Power on the VAP11G-300 using the USB or DC power cable.
Step 2: Access Configuration Interface
- Open a web browser on your computer.
- Enter http://vonets.cfg in the address bar and press Enter.
- When prompted, enter the default login credentials: ID: admin, Password: admin. (It is suggested to use Internet Explorer for initial setup if issues arise).
Step 3: Configure WiFi Settings
- In the configuration interface, select the desired WiFi hotspot to repeat or bridge after scanning.
- Enter the WiFi password for the selected network.
- Save the settings and restart the device to complete the configuration.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1. Using as a WiFi Repeater
After successful configuration in Repeater Mode, the VAP11G-300 will extend the range of your existing WiFi network. Place the device strategically between your main router and the area with weak signal for optimal coverage.
Figure 7: Enhanced WiFi coverage using the VAP11G-300 in repeater mode.
6.2. Using as a WiFi Bridge
When configured in Bridge Mode, connect the VAP11G-300's Ethernet port to your wired device (e.g., DVR, IP camera, network printer). The device will then wirelessly connect to your main WiFi network, providing internet access to the wired device.
6.3. Using as a WiFi Hotspot AP
In AP Mode, connect the VAP11G-300's Ethernet port to a wired internet source. The device will then broadcast its own WiFi network, allowing wireless devices to connect to the internet through it.
6.4. Powering the Device
The VAP11G-300 can be powered via its USB port (5V) or DC port (5V-15V). Do not use both power inputs simultaneously. Ensure the power source provides stable voltage within the specified range.
7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the device. Avoid liquid cleaners or aerosols.
- Placement: Place the device in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and moisture.
- Firmware Updates: Periodically check the official Vonets website for any available firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Resetting: If the device becomes unresponsive or you forget the configuration password, use the reset button to restore factory defaults. Press and hold the reset button for approximately 5-10 seconds while the device is powered on.
8. Troubleshooting
8.1. Cannot Access Configuration Page
- Ensure your computer's wireless adapter is disabled.
- Verify the Ethernet cable connection between the VAP11G-300 and your computer.
- Check if the VAP11G-300 is powered on.
- Try a different web browser (e.g., Internet Explorer).
- Temporarily disable any firewall or antivirus software on your computer.
8.2. No Internet Connection After Setup
- Verify that the VAP11G-300 is successfully connected to your main WiFi network (check hotspot connection status light).
- Ensure the WiFi password entered during configuration is correct.
- Check the signal strength of your main WiFi network at the VAP11G-300's location.
- Restart both your main router and the VAP11G-300.
- Confirm the operating mode (Repeater, Bridge, AP) is correctly selected for your intended use.
8.3. Slow Connection Speed
- Relocate the VAP11G-300 closer to your main router or the devices needing connection to improve signal strength.
- Ensure there are no major obstructions (thick walls, metal objects) between the VAP11G-300 and your main router.
- Check for interference from other 2.4GHz devices (e.g., cordless phones, microwaves).
- Verify that your main router is providing adequate internet speed.
