Setup and Installation

Pre-Installation Checklist:

Installation Steps:

  1. Position the Pump: Place the sump pump on a solid, level surface at the bottom of the sump basin. Ensure it is not resting directly on dirt or gravel.
  2. Connect Discharge Pipe: Attach a discharge pipe (minimum 1-1/4 inch diameter) to the pump's discharge outlet. It is recommended to use a check valve in the discharge line to prevent water from flowing back into the sump basin when the pump turns off.
  3. Adjust Float Switch: The tethered float switch must be positioned so it can move freely without obstruction. Ensure it can activate the pump at the desired water level and deactivate it before the pump runs dry. The tether length determines the operating range.
  4. Secure Wiring: Route the power cord away from any moving parts and ensure it is not pinched.
  5. Connect to Power: Once all connections are secure and the pump is properly positioned, plug the pump into a grounded 115V AC outlet.
  6. Test Operation: Fill the sump basin with water to verify the float switch activates the pump and water is discharged correctly. Ensure the pump shuts off when the water level drops.

Operation

The Everbilt 1/2 HP Submersible Sump Pump operates automatically via its tethered float switch. When the water level in the sump basin rises and lifts the float switch to its activation point, the pump will turn on and begin discharging water. Once the water level drops and the float switch returns to its lower position, the pump will turn off.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and reliable operation of your sump pump. Always disconnect power before performing any maintenance.
