3. Setup
3.1 Initial Winding
As an automatic watch, the Fossil Grant watch is powered by the motion of your wrist. If the watch has stopped or has not been worn for an extended period, it may require an initial manual winding to start the movement and build up the power reserve.
- Locate the crown on the right side of the watch case.
- Ensure the crown is in the fully pushed-in position (Position 0).
- Rotate the crown clockwise approximately 40 times. This will manually wind the mainspring and initiate the movement.
- Once started, normal wear will keep the watch wound.
3.2 Adjusting the Strap
The genuine leather strap features a buckle closure for a customized fit.
- Thread the end of the strap through the buckle.
- Insert the buckle pin into the desired hole on the strap to achieve a comfortable and secure fit on your wrist.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Setting the Time
- Pull the crown out to Position 1 (the outermost position). The second hand will stop.
- Rotate the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise to set the hour and minute hands to the correct time.
- Once the time is set, push the crown back into Position 0 (fully pushed-in) to restart the second hand and begin timekeeping.
4.2 Power Reserve
The watch has a power reserve of approximately 40 hours when fully wound. If the watch is not worn for an extended period, it will stop. To restart, follow the initial winding instructions in Section 3.1.
5. Care and Maintenance
5.1 Water Resistance
Your Fossil Grant watch is water resistant up to 50 meters (5 ATM). This means it is suitable for:
- Splashes and rain.
- Short periods of recreational swimming.
- Showering (avoid prolonged exposure to hot water or steam).
Important: Do not operate the crown or pushers while the watch is wet or submerged in water. This can compromise the water resistance.
This watch is NOT suitable for diving, snorkeling, or high-impact water sports.
5.2 Cleaning
- Case and Crystal: Wipe with a soft, damp cloth. For stubborn dirt, a mild soap solution can be used, followed by thorough drying.
- Leather Strap: Avoid prolonged exposure to water, direct sunlight, and harsh chemicals. Clean with a dry, soft cloth. Leather can naturally darken or change color over time with wear.
5.3 Storage
When not wearing your watch, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. The original Fossil tin can be used for storage.

6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Watch has stopped or is running slow. | Insufficient power reserve. The watch has not been worn or manually wound enough. | Manually wind the watch by rotating the crown clockwise approximately 40 times (with crown fully pushed in). Wear the watch regularly to keep it wound. |
| Time is incorrect. | Time needs to be reset. | Pull the crown out to Position 1 and set the correct time. Push the crown back in to Position 0. |
| Condensation under the crystal. | Exposure to extreme temperature changes or moisture ingress. | If condensation persists, seek professional service. Avoid exposing the watch to sudden temperature changes. Ensure crown is fully pushed in before contact with water. |
