6. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Amcrest camera:

  • Cleaning: Gently wipe the camera lens and body with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage the surface or lens.

  • Environmental Considerations: This camera is designed for indoor use only. Do not expose it to outdoor elements, high humidity, or extreme temperatures, as this can cause damage and void the warranty.
  • Power Supply: Use only the original 5V power supply provided with the camera to prevent electrical damage.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Amcrest camera, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • Camera Not Connecting to Wi-Fi:
    • Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4 GHz. The camera does not support 5 GHz networks.
    • Verify that your smartphone is connected to the same 2.4 GHz network during setup.
    • Check your Wi-Fi password for accuracy.
    • Move the camera closer to your Wi-Fi router to improve signal strength.
    • Try restarting both your camera and your router.
  • Poor Picture Quality / Night Vision Issues:
    • Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from dust or smudges.
    • Check for obstructions in front of the lens, especially for night vision (e.g., reflections from a window).
    • Verify that the camera's firmware is up to date.
  • Two-Way Audio Noise/Echo:
    • Avoid placing the camera too close to walls or other reflective surfaces that might cause echo.
    • Do not leave both the microphone and speaker active simultaneously for extended periods, as this can create feedback.
  • MicroSD Card Not Recording or Recognized:
    • Ensure the MicroSD card is inserted correctly.
    • Format the MicroSD card using the camera's settings in the Amcrest View Pro app.
    • For cards 64GB or larger, ensure they are formatted to FAT32 using a third-party tool on a computer if the camera's formatting utility does not work.
    • Test with a different MicroSD card to rule out card malfunction.
  • App Connectivity Issues (Amcrest View Lite vs. Pro):
    • If experiencing issues with "Amcrest View Lite", switch to the "Amcrest View Pro" app for improved stability and features.
  • Camera Not Responding:
    • Unplug the power adapter, wait 10 seconds, and plug it back in to restart the camera.
    • If the issue persists, locate the reset button on the camera (refer to Figure 8 for location) and press and hold it for 10-15 seconds to perform a factory reset. Note that a factory reset will erase all settings and recordings.
