1. Introduction
Thank you for choosing the Guide Gear Deluxe Hunting Hang-on Tree Stand. This manual provides essential information for the safe and proper assembly, operation, and maintenance of your tree stand. Please read all instructions carefully before use to ensure your safety and the longevity of the product. This tree stand is designed for hunting purposes and must be used in accordance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
2. Safety Information
WARNING: Failure to follow these safety instructions may result in serious injury or death.
- Always wear a full-body Fall Arrest System (FAS) that meets industry standards (e.g., TMA certified) when using or occupying a tree stand. The included FAS safety harness must be worn at all times.
- Inspect the tree stand and all components, including straps, cables, and hardware, before each use for any signs of wear, damage, or corrosion. Do not use if any damage is found.
- Ensure the tree stand is securely attached to a healthy, live tree with sufficient diameter to support the stand and user's weight. Avoid dead, diseased, or leaning trees.
- Do not exceed the maximum weight capacity of 300 lbs. This includes the user and any equipment.
- Always maintain three points of contact (two hands and one foot, or one hand and two feet) when ascending or descending the tree or entering/exiting the stand.
- Never hunt alone. Inform someone of your hunting location and expected return time.
- Practice using your tree stand and FAS at ground level before hunting.
- Do not use the tree stand under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication that may impair judgment or physical abilities.
- Be aware of weather conditions. Do not use in icy, wet, or windy conditions.
3. Components List
Before assembly, verify that all parts are present:
- Tree Stand Frame (includes seat and platform)
- Padded Camo Seat Cushion
- Padded Backrest
- Padded Armrests
- 2 Ratchet Straps
- FAS Safety Harness
- Assembly Hardware (bolts, nuts, washers)
4. Setup and Assembly
Follow these steps carefully for proper assembly and installation:
- Unpack all components and lay them out on a clean, flat surface.
- Attach the padded seat cushion, backrest, and armrests to the designated areas on the tree stand frame using the provided hardware. Ensure all connections are tight and secure.
- Select a healthy, straight tree free of dead branches or obstructions. The tree should be large enough to provide stable support.
- Position the tree stand against the tree at the desired height. Ensure the platform is level.
- Secure the tree stand to the tree using the two provided ratchet straps. Thread the straps through the designated attachment points on the stand and around the tree.
- Tighten the ratchet straps firmly until the stand is stable and does not shift or wobble. The stand's cable supports should be taut.
- Before climbing, give the stand a firm tug to confirm its stability.

5. Operating Instructions
Safe operation is paramount when using your tree stand:
- Always wear your FAS safety harness from the moment you leave the ground until you return. Attach the tether to the tree above your head as you ascend.
- Ascend the tree slowly and deliberately, maintaining three points of contact at all times.
- Once at the stand, carefully transfer your weight to the platform. Ensure the stand remains stable.
- Sit comfortably in the suspension-style seat. The padded camo seat is 17 x 10 inches and 21 inches high.
- When descending, reverse the climbing process, always maintaining three points of contact and keeping your FAS tether attached.
- Never jump into or out of the tree stand.
6. Maintenance
Proper maintenance will extend the life of your tree stand:
- After each use, especially in wet conditions, wipe down the stand to prevent rust. The steel construction has a green powder-coated surface to resist corrosion.
- Store the tree stand in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Periodically inspect all welds, bolts, and connections for tightness and signs of fatigue or damage. Tighten any loose hardware.
- Check the ratchet straps and FAS safety harness for fraying, cuts, or other damage. Replace any damaged components immediately.
- Clean the padded components with a mild soap and water solution, then allow them to air dry completely before storage.
7. Troubleshooting
Common issues and their solutions:
- Stand feels unstable: Ensure ratchet straps are fully tightened. Verify the tree is straight and healthy. Re-adjust the stand's position if necessary.
- Difficulty attaching straps: Ensure straps are not twisted and are threaded correctly through the stand's attachment points.
- Squeaking noises: Apply a small amount of silicone lubricant to pivot points or metal-on-metal contact areas.
- Corrosion/Rust: Clean affected areas with a wire brush and apply a rust-inhibiting primer and paint. Ensure proper storage to prevent future corrosion.
