Setup

Battery Installation

The TI-503SV calculator requires one Lithium Ion battery for operation. The battery compartment is typically located on the back of the unit.

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the calculator.
  2. Using a small screwdriver or coin, gently open the battery compartment cover.
  3. Insert one Lithium Ion battery, ensuring the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals are correctly aligned as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Replace the battery compartment cover and secure it.

Initial Power On

After installing the battery, press the ON/C key to turn on the calculator. The display should show "0" or "0.". If the display does not appear, check the battery installation or replace the battery.

Operating Instructions

Basic Calculations

  • Addition (+): Enter the first number, press +, enter the second number, then press =.
  • Subtraction (-): Enter the first number, press -, enter the second number, then press =.
  • Multiplication (x): Enter the first number, press x, enter the second number, then press =.
  • Division (÷): Enter the first number, press ÷, enter the second number, then press =.

Special Functions

  • ON/C (On/Clear): Turns the calculator on. When on, pressing it once clears the current entry. Pressing it twice clears all entries and memory.
  • OFF: Turns the calculator off.
  • +/- (Change Sign): Changes the sign of the displayed number from positive to negative or negative to positive.
  • % (Percent): Used for percentage calculations. For example, to calculate 10% of 50: enter 50, press x, enter 10, press %.
  • √ (Square Root): Calculates the square root of the displayed number. Enter the number, then press .
  • M+ (Memory Plus): Adds the displayed number to the memory.
  • M- (Memory Minus): Subtracts the displayed number from the memory.
  • MRC (Memory Recall/Clear): Press once to recall the value stored in memory. Press twice to clear the memory.

Automatic Power Down

To conserve battery life, the calculator will automatically power down after a period of inactivity. Press the ON/C key to turn it back on.

Maintenance

Cleaning

To clean the calculator, use a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with water. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or spray directly onto the calculator, as this may damage the display or keys.

Battery Replacement

When the display becomes dim or the calculator functions erratically, it is time to replace the battery. Follow the battery installation steps outlined in the "Setup" section. Ensure proper disposal of old batteries according to local regulations.

Storage

Store the calculator in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for an extended period, it is recommended to remove the battery to prevent leakage.
