Introduction
The Britax Boulevard ClickTight Convertible Car Seat is designed to provide safety and comfort for your child from infancy through the preschool years. It features the ClickTight Installation System for secure installation, SafeCell Impact Protection for advanced safety, and a quick-adjust harness for ease of use.
Setup and Installation
The revolutionary ClickTight Installation System simplifies car seat installation, ensuring a secure fit every time. This system allows for easy installation using your vehicle's seat belt.
ClickTight Installation Steps:
- Open the Car Seat: Locate the ClickTight release button, typically at the front of the car seat base. Press the button and lift the seat portion to open the ClickTight panel, revealing the belt path.
- Route the Seat Belt: For rear-facing installation, route the vehicle's lap and shoulder belt through the designated rear-facing belt path. For forward-facing installation, route the lap and shoulder belt through the forward-facing belt path. Ensure the belt is not twisted.
- Buckle the Seat Belt: Buckle the vehicle's seat belt. Pull the shoulder belt to remove slack from both the lap and shoulder portions of the belt. Do not overtighten; a minimal amount of slack is acceptable as the ClickTight system will secure it.
- Close the ClickTight Panel: Firmly press the car seat portion down until the ClickTight panel clicks shut. This action automatically tensions the seat belt, providing a rock-solid installation.
- Check for Security: Grasp the car seat at the belt path and attempt to move it side-to-side and front-to-back. The car seat should not move more than one inch in any direction.

Operating the Car Seat
Harness Adjustment
The Boulevard ClickTight features a quick-adjust, 14-position harness that allows you to change the harness height with a single button press, eliminating the need for rethreading. The Click & Safe Snug Harness Indicator provides an audible "click" when the harness is within the range of proper tightness.
- To adjust harness height: Squeeze the harness height adjustment lever at the top of the seat back and slide the headrest and harness up or down to the desired position. Ensure the harness straps are at or just below the child's shoulders for rear-facing, and at or just above the child's shoulders for forward-facing.
- To tighten the harness: Pull the harness adjustment strap located at the front of the car seat until you hear the "click" from the Click & Safe Snug Harness Indicator. Perform the pinch test at the child's collarbone; if you can pinch excess webbing, the harness is too loose.
- To loosen the harness: Press the harness release button, typically located under the seat pad at the front, and pull the harness straps forward.

Recline Positions
The car seat offers 7 recline positions to ensure proper angle and comfort for your child, whether rear-facing or forward-facing. An automatic level indicator helps confirm the correct recline angle.
- To adjust recline: Locate the recline adjustment handle, usually at the front or side of the car seat base. Squeeze the handle and adjust the seat to the desired recline position.
- Refer to the automatic level indicator on the side of the car seat to ensure the correct recline angle for your child's weight and age.

Child Placement
Ensure your child is properly seated with the harness straps over their shoulders and the chest clip positioned at armpit level. The crotch buckle should be positioned to prevent slouching.

Care and Cleaning
Regular cleaning helps maintain the car seat's condition and hygiene.
- Fabric Cover: The car seat cover is designed for easy removal without rethreading the harness. Refer to the care label on the fabric for specific washing instructions. Typically, machine washing on a delicate cycle with cold water and mild detergent is recommended, followed by air drying. Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals.
- Harness Straps: Wipe harness straps with a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not machine wash or submerge harness straps in water, as this can weaken the webbing.
- Buckle: Clean the buckle by wiping it with a damp cloth. If food or debris is stuck, flush the buckle with warm water. Do not use detergents or lubricants.
- Shell and Base: Wipe the plastic and metal parts of the car seat shell and base with a damp cloth and mild soap.

Troubleshooting
This section addresses common concerns and provides solutions for optimal use of your car seat.
- Crotch Buckle Appears Short: If the crotch buckle seems too short for your child, ensure it is in the outermost position. The car seat typically has multiple crotch buckle positions to accommodate growth. Adjusting the harness straps to be slightly looser in the hip/belly area, while maintaining proper tightness at the shoulders (passing the pinch test), can also improve comfort. Consult your full instruction manual for specific guidance on crotch buckle positioning.
- Recline Adjustment Handle is Stiff: If the recline adjustment handle is difficult to operate, try applying slight pressure to the car seat while adjusting. This can relieve tension on the mechanism, allowing for smoother movement. Ensure the car seat is not under excessive load or pressure when attempting to recline.
- ClickTight Panel Difficult to Close: If the ClickTight panel is hard to close, ensure that the vehicle seat belt is not pulled excessively tight before closing the panel. There should be a minimal amount of slack in the belt. The ClickTight system is designed to tension the belt upon closing, so pre-tightening too much can make it difficult to latch.
- Harness Pads/Shoulder Cushions: If shoulder cushions are bulky for smaller children, they can often be removed. Refer to your car seat manual for specific instructions on removing or adjusting these pads. Ensure that removing them does not compromise safety or harness fit.
