1. Product Overview

The Testo 175 T3 temperature logger is designed for precise temperature recording across two channels using external thermocouple probes (Type T or Type K). It is suitable for applications requiring simultaneous temperature monitoring, such as heating system checks or industrial process control. The device features a clear display for current, min/max values, limit violations, and battery life, ensuring high data security with a large memory capacity and long battery life.

2. Box Contents

Upon unboxing, verify that all components are present:

  • Testo 175 T3 temperature logger (2-channel, with external sensor connections for thermocouple type T and type K)
  • Wall bracket
  • Lock
  • Batteries (3 x AAA)
  • Calibration protocol

Note: External thermocouple probes and a USB cable for programming/reading are sold separately and are required for full functionality.

3. Setup

  1. Battery Installation: The Testo 175 T3 uses 3 AAA batteries. These are included. Ensure correct polarity when inserting. The logger is designed to retain saved measurement data even if batteries are empty or replaced.
  2. Mounting: Use the provided wall bracket to securely mount the logger in the desired measurement location.
  3. Probe Connection: Connect the external thermocouple probes (Type T or Type K, purchased separately) to the two designated connections on the logger. The logger requires at least one external probe to be connected for operation.
  4. Initial Power On: Once batteries are installed and probes connected, the device will power on. The display will show current readings.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Display Information

The clear display provides the following information:

  • Current measuring values for both channels.
  • Minimum (Min) and Maximum (Max) recorded values.
  • Set limit values.
  • Indications of limit value violations.
  • Remaining battery life.

4.2. Data Logging

The Testo 175 T3 automatically logs data at a user-defined measuring rate, ranging from 10 seconds to 24 hours. It has a memory capacity of up to 1 million readings.

4.3. Programming and Data Analysis

To program the data logger and analyze measurement data, a USB cable (optional) and software are required. Three software versions are available:

  • ComSoft Basic: Free download for fast programming and easy data analysis.
  • ComSoft Professional: Optional purchase for more detailed analysis possibilities.
  • ComSoft CFR 21 Part 11: Optional purchase, suitable for pharmaceutical sector requirements (CFR 21 Part 11).

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: The device has an IP65 protection class, offering protection against dust ingress and water spray/jets. For cleaning, wipe the exterior with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Battery Replacement: When the battery indicator shows low power, replace the 3 AAA batteries. Ensure the device is powered off before replacement. Data security is maintained during battery changes.
  • Calibration: Regular calibration is recommended to ensure continued accuracy. Refer to the calibration protocol included with your device for details.
