4. Maintenance

4.1. Cleaning

To ensure the longevity of your Wilton cake pan, clean it thoroughly after each use. Hand washing is recommended. Use warm, soapy water and a soft sponge or cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as these can damage the non-stick surface (if applicable) or the pan's finish. Rinse thoroughly and dry immediately to prevent water spots or rust.

4.2. Storage

Store the cake pan in a dry environment. If stacking multiple pans, place a paper towel or soft cloth between them to prevent scratching. Keep away from extreme temperatures.

5. Troubleshooting

5.1. Cake Sticking to Pan

  • Issue: Cake adheres to the pan, making removal difficult.
  • Solution: Ensure the pan is properly greased and floured before pouring batter. For intricate pans, use a baking spray with flour or a combination of shortening and flour, ensuring all crevices are covered. Allow the cake to cool in the pan on a wire rack for 10-15 minutes before inverting.

5.2. Icing Consistency Issues

  • Issue: Icing is too thick or too thin for decorating.
  • Solution: If icing is too thick, add a very small amount of milk or water (1/2 teaspoon at a time) and mix until desired consistency is reached. If icing is too thin, add more powdered sugar (1 tablespoon at a time) and mix until thickened.

5.3. Colors Not Vibrant Enough

  • Issue: Icing colors appear dull or not as intense as desired.
  • Solution: Use gel-based food coloring for more vibrant results, as liquid food coloring can dilute the icing. Add color gradually, mixing well after each addition, until the desired shade is achieved.
